Hi Everyone-I would like to thank everyone who has donated (and posted) to help rescue these three, and of course Denetta and Patti, who couldn't take no for an answer and braved the shelter for the first time to get these babies out. Way to go!!! We have a way to go on Zeus especially, but things are looking up for this whole family. We are thrilled to report that Atlas has officially been adopted through Shar Pei Rescue in Redding (Anna Payne)! His new mom is a repeat rescue dog adopter and has also adopted a sister for him (Mika). You can view her happy ending photo on their website. Atlas' pic will be on there soon too, and he will be living the sunny So Cal life in OC. His new mom is very dedicated and all his current and future medical needs are being taken care of at no expense to Pei People. Check out Atlas' new family members and happy ending at http://www.californiasharpeirescue.com/Flower has just been to the vet and is actually in good health and younger than we had hoped. It also appears that she is not Atlas' mom, the vet said she has probably not had pups and is only about 2 1/2. I met her the other day and she is a cutie...looks like a little bear. She is a doll, quite unique and also good with other dogs. Zeus is going to be at my place for the time being, as he needs medication several times a day for his skin and we need to monitor his urine for blood. (This means that another dog will be boarding in his place, as I only have room for one at the moment, but he needs the care and attention right now.) He is a joy, very sweet and loving, and we got to see him play today, which was amazing. He really likes kids and rode very well in the car. He is a joyful boy, truly grateful to be alive. We hope we get some improvement on his mange and urine issues soon, it could be a long road but we are hopeful he will continue to improve and not need surgery other than his neutering.Sue and I are very grateful for all the concern people have shown for these three special dogs, but I also I want to stress that these three, although very special to all of us, are just like every other dog that waits in a shelter for a home. They are just the tip of the iceberg. For every one that we save, there are many that we can't save because of lack of foster homes or funds. (All the money that comes in to rescues like ours goes directly to help the dogs). The best thing people can do, as many of you have done, is to donate time or funds to reputable rescues to enable the ongoing care of rescued dogs, and also to consider fostering one dog at a time for a rescue if your space and lifestyle allow it. If we had more fosters, we could save more lives. Thanks again to everyone who has helped and for continuing to care about these guys, and all the others who still need help.
