Gaithersburg MD: McWag Rescue saves lives

The following is a heartfelt letter from longtime arduous rescuer Kricket McCarthy in Maryland. Please view the video of Chow Mi Joy [rescued from Kennel 45 in Ohio] and her pups, and visit Kricket's Petfinder links to see her fantastic work. If you are willing and able, there is a donation button on her site. All contributions, no matter $5, $10 or so on, do add up quickly. Thank you for caring!

It's very difficult for me to ask for help but this past couple of months have been very wonderful but difficult and now I find myself in need of donations for both medical and boarding expenses. I consider myself extremely fortunate because these stories all appear to be headed for happy endings and I don't regret for a second helping any of these wonderful Chow Chows but I don't have enough financial resources at this time.

Remember the Chow girl from OH who the shelter thought might be pregnant and I took because she could not go to Canada as planned. When she got here I was told by the vet she was not pregnant so she was vaccinated and plans made for her to be spayed. However, she was then hospitalized for almost a week with anemia and a severe bacterial infection. After being out of the hospital for a very short time she was readmitted for almost another week, the beautiful reasons can be seen at link below.

Then we were finally successful, after months of trying, to save the Joppa/Towson Chow. In addition to all the vetting he has received and will need, he needs to be boarded in a safe, escape free, kennel until an appropriate foster or adopter can be found. There is a link to his story on my website http://mcwagrescue.petfinder.org/

And then there is sweet, sweet Jeffrey who is with a wonderful foster but still getting his thyroid regulated which means repeated blood tests and medication. http://tinyurl.com/47y8q3

Finally, as well all are acutely aware, there are more wonderful Chows in shelters near us all. There is a beautiful year old black Chow girl in my shelter (she looks a lot like Mi Joy) whose stray time is up who I will be evaluating today in hopes of finding someone to save her.

Am so sorry to have to ask for assistance, especially this time of year and when everyone has their own struggles. There is a donation button on my website, however, if you can just send prayers and good wishes for all of the animals, that would also be greatly appreciated.

yours in rescue,

Kricket
