FANTASTIC NEWS! LosAngeles CA: Chance 1 or 2 yr old female

Please crosspost good news!

The Amazing Chance is safe!

Please watch fabulous video of the amazing Chance newly sprung from the shelter. If you can, please donate to Sheilah Aragon's Mutt Match of Los Angeles rescue SO SHE CAN KEEP UP THIS INCREDIBLE WORK - the link to Paypal a donation is at her website http://www.muttmatchla.com/fosterdogs.html which reports:

Chance

Chance is one of the sweetest, gentlest souls. She was very loved by everyone at the shelter but they were happy to finally see her going home. Dr. Lee the vet at the shelter said she believes Chance was hit by a car, she said she has a fractured spine but that nothing can be done for her. When my vet looked at the x-rays sent from the shelter he couldn't believe it! He couldn't believe first of all that she was even able to walk and definitely that she wasn't in excruciating pain! He said that the shelter x-rays were so out of focus but that it looked like she indeed had a fractured (broken) back and that both her hips were broken as well. That means she was in the shelter for almost a month and nobody did anything for her. When he told me this, my heart ached for Chance. This poor girl baby (remember she's only a year) has been through so much in her short little life. On further examining her, it appears that maybe one of her hips has healed but that one of them is still dislocated. HOW IS SHE STILL WALKING! Dogs are so amazing!!! In the meantime... I'm happy to report she was happy playing in the grass with little Frankie. She'll stop when she's had enough and rest. I have faith she'll live a long happy life once we get her all fixed up.

Adoption Application

Watch the video of Chance and Frankie enjoying life, sky and grass, freshly sprung from the shelter!

St. Martinville LA: Pets on death row

---------- Forwarded message ----------
From: St. Martin Humane Society <stmartinhumane@gmail.com>
Date: Mar 8, 2008 9:10 PM
Subject: Pets on death row in St. Martinville LA

Permission to cross post

Hi all,

Please don't forget the pets from the St. Martin Parish Animal Control,
in St. Martinville, Louisiana tel.: 337-394-1220. These beautiful pets' lives are in danger.
If you can't see the list and pictures pasted in this message, please go to
http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=1&pet.Shelterid=LA168&preview=1

This is a high kill facility and these pets could be euthanized on March 11.

Many pets get pulled thanks to all the people crossposting and to animal welfare groups
getting them out of the pound. Thanks to all of you!

If your group pulls a dog (sorry it does not work for cats)
from the pound, please let me know and give me your
website address or some info on how to donate to you.

The reason is because in DogsInDanger.com
where the dogs are also listed,
I can enter additional info
o
nce a pet's status is changed to adopted/rescued. If I
mention your group, you may occasionally get a donation
towards that pet's care from relieved dog lovers.

Note that by the time you receive this e-mail, there are probably more
pets - cats and dogs - not in this list. It does not hurt to ask the staff what
other pets they have...

The facility is a new building located at 1004 Industrial Park Road in
St. Martinville, past Wal Mart, behind the old Fruit of the Loom plant.
Opening hours are Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm.
Special arrangements can be made on request.

The pulling fee for animal groups is $5 with proof of non-profit status
(you can fax it at 337-394-1220.) If you don't have the proper paperwork or
non-profit status, you will be charged the normal adoption fee of $65, but
this entitles you to a $50 spay/neuter certificate and a $10 rabies
certificate.

Please note: The St. Martin Parish Animal Control (i.e. the pound) and the
St. Martin Humane Society are TWO DIFFERENT ENTITIES.
Volunteers from the St. Martin Humane Society list the pets for the pound on
Petfinder but we have no other information.
Please do not waste any time hitting the "Reply" button to contact me,
I have no additional information
and can't do anything anyway,
contact the pound directly at 337-394-1220. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!
These pets' lives are on the line...
Also, please skip the hate mail, I don't need that, I do what I can and we welcome everybody's help!

Please understand the staff is not in a position to organize transportation

southern California:rescued (YAY!!) but $$$ needed for Cammi's surgery, rescued by Angels in Fur

Please crosspost
Cammi was pulled from North Central shelter by Angels in Fur. The contact is Rachelle Lynn at ilvpaws AT earthlink.net.
Funds are kindly requested for Cammi's surgery to recover from being struck by a car. Cammi is being fostered at Angels in Fur Dog Rescue Rachelle Lynn's home and doing very well. She has already seen Dr. Morsehead (an orthopedic vet) two times and is set to have her tail amputated this Friday 2/22/08. She will spend the night and Rachelle will pick her up on Saturday. Rachelle is waiting to get the estimate for the surgery and should receive it in a day or so. The vet works with Rachelle and does not charge her but anticipates donations will come in for the bill. Rachelle plans on Cammi's bill being at least $1,000.00 if not a bit more. It is not merely a tail docking. Her tail has been separated from her spine above her hip area. Dr. Morsehead will be removing it up in that part of the spine. He also needs to take an X-ray of her back right leg. It has swelled up since Rachelle got her from the pound and she is favoring it by hopping or limping. To think that she came in unable to walk at all or go to the bathroom with out help ...to walking, hopping really fast, and going to the bathroom....SHE HAS QUITE A SPIRIT :) Rachelle also uses a holistic dog nutritionalist (Natural Touch 4 Paws) and her herbs and vitamins have healed many of her rescued and run over dogs in the past. Rachelle also has an appointment for Cammi to see a dog chiropractor as soon as she can after her surgery :) Thank you so much for desiring to help Rachelle help Cammi.

Max was taken from his home because of Breed Specific Legislation, Please take a moment to read the owners words below...
Max is a wonderful, loving, affectionate dog. He deserves a good home. Please, please, I pray that
who ever adopts him will love him and take care of him
"Max's profile
He does not like vacuum cleaners
He does not like cats, agressive dogs, possum, and squirrels
He has only been fed dog food, purina kibbles and chunks
You can keep food in his bowl, he will eat in moderation
give heartworm (1) a month

Key words he understands:
Bad-when he is doing something you don't want him to do
Hurry up-when he goes outside to do his business No, lay down, go to your pillow, stay, heel, stop, sit

Hax has never been kept outside. He has never had an accidnet in our home (the longest he had to hold it was 15 hours-we had an emergency and was unable to get to him)

Take him out in the morning if you work and maybe once or twice after that (when you get home). He loves childeren buy you will have to watch him because he can knock down small kids. We never was able to break him from jumping up when he greets someone. He is not a barker, only at other animals.
Max is located at the Siouxland Humane Society in Sioux City, IA.

Max is a 4 year old, neutered pit bull. He was surrendered to the Humane Society because of city ordinances. This dog is such a sweetheart!!!! Max is housebroken and has always been an inside dog. He is leash trained and knows approximately 10 commands...very smart. He is very loving and affectionate. His previous owners were heartbroken to give him up.
He has been at the shelter since Dec.4th and is beginning to go downhill. He does not get up to greet the staff anymore...he is VERY depressed. The H.S. staff says wonderful things about this dog's personality. I believe this is the only reason he has not been euthanized...yet. However, with his emotional decline, euthanasia is imminent.
We need to find a rescue situation or home for this wonderful dog IMMEDIATELY!!! Please contact me for any additional information you may need!
