3/14 UPDATE --- THIS PUPPY IS SAFE!! YAY!!!!!

GRIFFIN, GA -- Yes, my tail DOES work!!!

I have just re-discovered something I had almost forgotten about -- Yes, I DO have a tail -- and yes, it DOES still work!!! Ever since I came to this scary place, it seems there has been no reason to even THINK about wagging my tail -- but I have been here for quite a while now and nothing bad has happened to me, so I am slowly beginning to trust again. This has not been easy for me, but my courage is bolstered by the thought that someone may be on their way to rescue me and get me out of this place. Good-night for now -- It is time to go to sleep, and I will be dreaming that tomorrow is the day I finally get out.

Chance Chance is one of the sweetest, gentlest souls. She was very loved by everyone at the shelter but they were happy to finally see her going home. Dr. Lee the vet at the shelter said she believes Chance was hit by a car, she said she has a fractured spine but that nothing can be done for her. When my vet looked at the x-rays sent from the shelter he couldn't believe it! He couldn't believe first of all that she was even able to walk and definitely that she wasn't in excruciating pain! He said that the shelter x-rays were so out of focus but that it looked like she indeed had a fractured (broken) back and that both her hips were broken as well. That means she was in the shelter for almost a month and nobody did anything for her. When he told me this, my heart ached for Chance. This poor girl baby (remember she's only a year) has been through so much in her short little life. On further examining her, it appears that maybe one of her hips has healed but that one of them is still dislocated. HOW IS SHE STILL WALKING! Dogs are so amazing!!! In the meantime... I'm happy to report she was happy playing in the grass with little Frankie. She'll stop when she's had enough and rest. I have faith she'll live a long happy life once we get her all fixed up. The facility is a new building located at 1004 Industrial Park Road in
St. Martinville, past Wal Mart, behind the old Fruit of the Loom plant.
Opening hours are Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm.
Special arrangements can be made on request.

The pulling fee for animal groups is $5 with proof of non-profit status
(you can fax it at 337-394-1220.) If you don't have the proper paperwork or
non-profit status, you will be charged the normal adoption fee of $65, but
this entitles you to a $50 spay/neuter certificate and a $10 rabies
certificate.

Please note: The St. Martin Parish Animal Control (i.e. the pound) and the
St. Martin Humane Society are TWO DIFFERENT ENTITIES.
Volunteers from the St. Martin Humane Society list the pets for the pound on
Petfinder but we have no other information.

This handsome guy is located at the Hancock County dog pound in Carthage IL. He moved in to another dogs dog house and the animal control was called to pick him up!! I cracked up hearing that story from the ac warden! He is very dog friendly, and just happy boy! Unfortunately he was stray in that area, living homeless for quite awhile and no one has come looking for him. He will be euthanized at the end of this week if no one rescues him.
