Date: Sun, 11 May 2008
Maggi is missing. Anyone in the Northwest corner of Indiana I emplore you to keep an eye out for my baby girl. I am just sick to death worrying about her. She is deaf and all alone. The story is Jody had gotten pulled over in Indiana on friday and when they ran her license they found a ... no one really knows what it is yet cause its so old and paperwork is missing. Monday it will be fixed hopefully and we will know what is what. Anyway the crownpoint police would not wait for me to get there (15 min) to get the car and Maggi. Animal control tried to put her into their truck, she slipt the collar and ran. My baby is gone and all they could say to me is wow, she sure was fast. They said good luck finding her and drove off. . Anyone from indiana or that knows people from lake county and porter county please be on the look out. Do not try to catch her, she is afraid of people and would only come to me or Christine Brown or Jody. Call me, 219 - 406 - 2467

Okay all....in the next week and this week I will be posting all the animals that are at the Sallisaw Shelter. I thought Randy, (ACO Randy Freeman), leaves on the 25th, well he leaves on the 18th! On Friday May 16th if there are ANY animals at the shelter they will be put down. There is no one to care for them when he is gone (he is going to India and Thialand to open orphanges...he is also a pastor) He will be gone for 2 weeks for that and then he has a training that will be 1 week so in reality he will be gone for 3 weeks. I know not all of them can be saved but lets see what we can do for them okay? He does not want ANY of them to die! I am going today to pick up 6 puppies and I am so full but I want to help him. So be watching for your email with the pictures. Right now you can go look at his petfinder site if you have time. All that is one there is still there. Ohio Flat Coat Rescue is taking the two girls! Yeah!!! Thanks in advance to any that can help! And there are 3 cats at the mission.

West Hollywood, CA: UPDATE: Mother Cat rescued from Lumber Yard

Please donate and/or crosspost for Cally

This is an update re Mother Cat rescued from Lumber Yard with Infection of Mammary Glands whose kittens were dead. Jacquelyn and Serena have rescued her, taken her to a vet, and located a foster home for her for when she gets released from the vet (spayed of course!). She is still at the vet's office because her infection has not cleared up yet. If people would like to assist, donations are greatly needed for the vet bills. Please read Jacquelyn's email herebelow. Thank you!

Subject: Donations Needed For Vet Bills

Hello Everyone:

Please cross post this email far and wide to help us with Cally's vet bills:

The mother cat rescued from the lumber yard is still at Laurel Pet Hospital recuperating from her infection as well as a very large bruise on her belly. (We believe that somebody may have kicked her). When she was brought to the hospital, she could barely stand using her back legs. She is doing much better now as she has been at the hospital since last Tuesday. We are trying to raise money to help with the vet bills. As of last Tuesday, April 29th, our bill was $212. They are charging us $19.20 per day to board her so as of today, we owe an additional $134.40 cents. Total thus far is $346.40

If you would like to donate to help with Cally's vet bills, please send a check to (they do not accept out of state checks):

Laurel Pet Hospital
7970 Santa Monica Blvd.
West Hollywood, CA 90046

Please notate on the check that the donation is for Cally and include the client name, Hobday K, and File number: 5165

If you would like to donate via credit card, please fill out the authorization slip shown here and fax it to Laurel Pet Hospital. The fax number is: (323) 650-0423

Thanks everyone,

Jacquelyn

Subject: Urgent: Mother Cat rescued from Lumber Yard with Infection of Mammary Glands, Kittens Dead!
Hello Everyone:
Please Cross-Post this email far and wide.

My friend, Serena rescued a sick mother cat from a lumber yard. She had 2 kittens that passed away as her mammary glands dried up and she had an infection. Serena took the mother cat to the vet and she is being treated for the infection. They tested her for FELV/FIV and she tested negative. She is on clavamox and she is currently being boarded at the vet's office because my friend cannot bring her home due to issues with her landlord. This cat is tame and is approximately 1 year old. She will be spayed and vaccinated as soon as her infection clears. If Serena does not find someone to foster her while we look for a permanent home, she will have to release her back to the lumber yard where it is not safe.

Subject: URGENT!! Need safe place to release a feral cat!

Urgent! Please Circulate!
A volunteer from our rescue went to pick up our mail at the rescue group's p.o. box when the owner of the place informed her of a cat that was just hit by a car. The cat was badly injured and crawled up into his car that was parked on the side of the road. The volunteer put out an urgent call for help and several other volunteers and cat rescuers rallied to get the cat to safety. (This was on Fairfax and 3rd St. - a very busy area, and the cat was scared, injured and seemed to be feral). It took hours and amazing efforts by all that volunteered but we were able to get the cat (now named Kali) to an emergency vet. $1300 later Kali was able to leave the vet and go into foster care. It has been 3 months, but even with much love and time given by her foster parents, Kali has shown no signs of taming. We are desperately looking for a safe place to release her into a feral colony or into a safe yard where she will have a food source. We cannot release her where we found her because it is not only a very busy area with lots of traffic but we have not been able to find a colony or food source in the neighborhood.

If you know of any place where Kali can be safely released, please contact myself (allybeeber@yahoo.com) allybeeber AT yahoo.com or my rescue partner Julia AT juliapennington.com.
Thank you,

Alli

Bruno is a sweet easygoing dog. His plight is very sad - he is another owner surrender and Animal Control is very full, so HIS TIME IS VERY LIMITED! Bruno allowed me to put his leash on and he didn't pull whatsoever when I walked him, despite his large size. He is a giant teddy bear - he is so sweet and he didn't even so much as growl at any of the other dogs. Come and meet Bruno before his time runs out!

Humphrey is a 13 year old German Shepard luckily rescued from his "home" where he had been chained to a tree and practically starved my whole life. With loving owners enjoying his company and sweet nature as much as he will enjoy theirs. Please give him a chance to enjoy the rest of his life in a loving home in exchange for his devotion as mans best friend!

Help us save Wyatt! Wyatt is fighting for his life.
Your donation will help save him.

Wyatt was rescued by Coastal German Shepherd Rescue from a very high kill animal shelter on his very last day. When we rescued him we knew that his vision was impaired, and vowed to get him the treatment that he needed. Apparently no one cared enough about Wyatt previously to get him seen by a vet. After being in our care for a couple of days and receiving treatment for his eyes, Wyatt took a turn for the worse and became very lethargic, didn't want to eat and just all around felt lousy. Our vets have confirmed what we feared, Wyatt has pneumonia. His right lung is practically filled and his breathing capacity is limited. Wyatt is receiving the very best care---however that care is very costly. He is currently in an oxygen tent, being nebulized and on a very tough antibiotic. He is fighting for his life and we are trying vigilantly to raise the funds needed to continue his care.
We commit to the medical needs of every dog that comes through our rescue's doors. We never turn our back on a dog with medical needs. However, we need your help to refill our accounts and to be able to tell our vet's that we can continue with Wyatt's costly care. Three days of intensive care could easily cost us $3K, so as you can see it is vital that we reach out to you to help Wyatt.
Any donation will go straight to Wyatt's care. Please consider helping Wyatt today.

Visit our Firstgiving page or click on the sponsor me button on my signature line. Your donations are secure and tax deductible.

Thank you in advance!

Hi Everyone-I would like to thank everyone who has donated (and posted) to help rescue these three, and of course Denetta and Patti, who couldn't take no for an answer and braved the shelter for the first time to get these babies out. Way to go!!! We have a way to go on Zeus especially, but things are looking up for this whole family. We are thrilled to report that Atlas has officially been adopted through Shar Pei Rescue in Redding (Anna Payne)! His new mom is a repeat rescue dog adopter and has also adopted a sister for him (Mika). You can view her happy ending photo on their website. Atlas' pic will be on there soon too, and he will be living the sunny So Cal life in OC. His new mom is very dedicated and all his current and future medical needs are being taken care of at no expense to Pei People. Check out Atlas' new family members and happy ending at http://www.californiasharpeirescue.com/Flower has just been to the vet and is actually in good health and younger than we had hoped. It also appears that she is not Atlas' mom, the vet said she has probably not had pups and is only about 2 1/2. I met her the other day and she is a cutie...looks like a little bear. She is a doll, quite unique and also good with other dogs. Zeus is going to be at my place for the time being, as he needs medication several times a day for his skin and we need to monitor his urine for blood. (This means that another dog will be boarding in his place, as I only have room for one at the moment, but he needs the care and attention right now.) He is a joy, very sweet and loving, and we got to see him play today, which was amazing. He really likes kids and rode very well in the car. He is a joyful boy, truly grateful to be alive. We hope we get some improvement on his mange and urine issues soon, it could be a long road but we are hopeful he will continue to improve and not need surgery other than his neutering.Sue and I are very grateful for all the concern people have shown for these three special dogs, but I also I want to stress that these three, although very special to all of us, are just like every other dog that waits in a shelter for a home. They are just the tip of the iceberg. For every one that we save, there are many that we can't save because of lack of foster homes or funds. (All the money that comes in to rescues like ours goes directly to help the dogs). The best thing people can do, as many of you have done, is to donate time or funds to reputable rescues to enable the ongoing care of rescued dogs, and also to consider fostering one dog at a time for a rescue if your space and lifestyle allow it. If we had more fosters, we could save more lives. Thanks again to everyone who has helped and for continuing to care about these guys, and all the others who still need help. If you love shar pei, want to see updates on our dogs, or are interested in fostering or adopting a dog, check out our site at http://www.peipeople.com

Lousiana:URGENT! Pit Bull on death row in St. Martinville

Please note: Anyone interested in this sweet dog will need to go through an animal welfare group. Due to policy which is strictly adhered to, he is not available for adoption directly to the public.

All cats and dogs at pound in St. Martinville are urgent. Here is a special plea for a special youngster. He is not on Petfinder. His situation is very urgent. Please see Volunteer Marie's message below about how to save his life. Neither Volunteer Marie at the Humane Society nor I are the contact. The pound is the contact. Thank you!

Subject: URGENT: Sweet Pit Bull on death row in St. Martinville, LA
To:
Hi again,

This is the second URGENT appeal for this beautiful young Pit Bull. He is NOT listed in Petfinder, or any online adoption database as to not attract unwanted attention and he is not available for adoption directly to the public. He can only be taken by an animal welfare group.

LISTED BEFORE... Time is short...
Very, very sweet male Pit Bull, 8 months old, not listed on Petfinder.

The pound where he is is a high kill facility and the fact he was not euthanized because of his breed is a testament to his very sweet disposition. He is about 7 months old, 65 lbs and VERY sweet. Pets are given about 2 weeks and he has been there about one month now.

TIME IS RUNNING SHORT!!!!!
.

If you think you can help this beautiful dog, please call the St. Martin Parish Animal Control facility (337-394-1220), leave a message with your phone # and keep calling. Your best chance of catching a human being is early in the morning, at lunch time and after 3 pm. Please DO NOT PROCRASTINATE as this pet's life is on the line!

The facility is a new building located at 1004 Industrial Park Road in
St. Martinville, past Wal Mart, behind the old Fruit of the Loom plant.
Opening hours are Tuesday through Friday 9 am - 6 pm. Saturday 9 am - 2 pm.
Closed on Sunday and Monday.
Special arrangements can be made on request.

The pulling fee for animal groups is $5 with proof of non-profit status
(you can fax it at 337-394-1220.) If you don't have the proper paperwork or
non-profit status, you will be charged the normal adoption fee of $65, but
this entitles you to a $50 spay/neuter certificate and a $10 rabies
certificate.

Do not waste any time
hitting the "Reply" button to ask me more questions
or to make arrangements with me, I have no additional information

and I do not work for the pound, I am only a volunteer.

Contact the pound directly
at 337-394-1220. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!

Please understand the staff is not in a position to organize transportation.

Please keep me updated and thank you for trying to save a life.
