Daisy is a 3 month old DSH kitten. She is so cute and sweet. She is very scared and in obvious discomfort, however she still moves around and does her thing. She came into the Orange County Animal Care Center on 5/26 with a severely injured front right leg. She has missing toes and has a full arm cast.. She needs to have the leg amputated. Yesterday I took her to our vet at Pearson-Nespor in San Marcos. She started her deworming, Felv testing, and shots. They took X-rays also. Today, 6/3 I am taking her to Dr. Katcherian at Back Bay Vet in Newport Beach. He is going to examine her and he said he will try and save the leg. He will be the one conducting the surgery. It could be as much as $1000. She will have to stay there for several days. i am planning on doing the rehab with her to cut costs. Thankfully school lets out soon to give me the extra time. So far, all of her bills have come out of my pocket. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out with getting some funds. I have set up an account on fundable.com. I can also accept donations through paypal (fureverlovedrescue@yahoo.com).

Atlanta GA: Milsap RESCUED!

6/2/08 UPDATE from Cindy in Sewanee TN: Milsap has been rescued by Shar Pei Rescue of Tennessee, Inc. HOORAY! HOORAY!

Subject: Absolutely NO ONE has stepped up for poor Poor Milsap!! At FCAS in Atl, GA!! Needs help desperately...

No one has stepped up for Milsap! Just got an email from the shelter manager and they are at the end of the line with Milsap. This poor boy has suffered so much. Can someone help him??
MILSAP'S STORY IN HIS OWN WORDS Can you imagine if no one ever loved you? "My name is Milsap- my eyes look old and weary but that is because my life has been so hard. I am actually a young buck! I came to Fulton County Animal Services as a puppy- and boy was I glad to be off the streets. You see, I had no fur- so I was really really cold! Then Fulton County Animal Services found me a home- but my people were not as nice as they promised to be. They didn't love me and they wouldn't take care of me. My skin was so itchy and I really needed help, but instead of helping me, they dumped me on the streets. It really hurts not to have anyone want you. Can you imagine- if no one ever loved you?? So now I am back at Fulton County Animal Services where they are doing their best to help me. I am gaining confidence and love people, despite having been treated so badly! I am very friendly and could make a great great companion for you!! I am also neutered and microchipped. I am all ready to go home!! I just don't understand why I keep getting passed over time and time again!!! I am trying to stay strong and keep my chin up. You can tell from my picture though, I am starting to lose hope. Please look at me and give me a second chance at life."
Please contact Jason Slaughter, a FCAS employee, if you can help Milsap. Jason's email is jason.slaughter@fultoncountyga.gov or you can call him at 404-794-0358.
Milsap needs a home now! He has lived at FCAS most of his life- he came in as a tiny bald puppy. He was adopted and then dumped by his new owners. Please show Milsap that people are not all bad!!! These are Jason's exact words about Milsap... I took them right off his email "Now the fourth dog is special. This is Milsap. He is about 6 or 7 months and has been with us most of his life. He came in as a tiny bald puppy. We treated him as much as we could and he was adopted. Unfortunately for him he was returned soon after only to be passed over time and time again. Milsap still suffers from hair loss despite his treatments but you can't tell him that. He is full of confidence and bounces at the opportunity to please any potential adopter. He is neutered, chipped, and ready to go."

Please pass this on to others to save them from being put down for space. Pass on to others please!!!!!

Juliet and her buddy, Romeo, were found by a good hearted person, and were brought to the shelter. But they weren't your average stray pit bulls. No, these poor dogs were dumped, along with all of their things, beds, etc. in a field. (who does this kind of stuff??!!) Rather than leave them to starve or get hit by a car, she brought them to the shelter. So far, their story is a tragedy...first loved, and then dumped like so much trash in a field. But this Romeo and Juliet can have a happy ending-it's up to you. Juliet's eye has been surgically sutured (healed long ago) and she gets around just fine. She likes making friends, and will come over and sit in visitors' laps (if I scoot over slowly, they won't even know I'm in their lap!) We would love to adopt Romeo and Juliet together, but they can be seperated if it is necessary. If you would like more information about Juliet, please have her ID number available, and contact the shelter.

Renday is approximately 2 years old and a real lovebug. She was abandoned pregnant in a Target parking lot. She was named Renday by the City of Rancho Cucamonga Animal Control where she was taken and had puppies 2 days later; she was fostered through the shelter while she nursed her puppies. Those puppies were adopted. Renday was going to be put to death. She was rescued by www.PeiPeople.com. Please see her info by clicking here: 1-800-save-a-pet

Primarily because of a mysterious skin infection that materialized after the puppies were born, the rescue organization has spent over $1,886+ on her medical expenses so far. Sue fostered Renday in her home for 12 days, through her surgery recovery. She is now in boarding. The organization has spent $480 on her boarding at $10/day. PeiPeople has had Renday for 60 days, 48 of which have been in boarding in Orange County, California. They have over $1,000 into treating the mysterious infection on her back. Despite 3 biopsies and surgery, the infection rages on. PeiPeople.com is taking her to a specialist (doggie dermatologist) this weekend. PeiPeople.com respectfully requests your donations for her medical/boarding expenses if you are able to assist. Thank you for considering Renday!

Any donations, even small ones, are still very much appreciated because they all add up. PeiPeople has applied for 501(c)3 status; donations are presently non tax-deductible.To make a contribution, please click on the Donate button on website www.PeiPeople.com or PayPal directly to info@peipeople.com (peipeople.com). Brutus gets along well with other dogs, too. He is a bright dog who should be easy to train. Brutus is so loving and will be the most devoted family dog you could ever want! Brutus was confiscated from a dreadful situation where he was being starved to death. His owner was taken to court, given a jail sentence, and forced to relinquish Brutus to Williamson County Animal Control. Despite this terrible ordeal, Brutus is so thriving! He has gained weight and is in good health now. He is also our shelter sweetheart! Won't you please consider giving him a home?

A226949 "Ruby" 11 month old spayed boxer/pittie mix

Sweet Ruby was brought back twice because she's deaf. She was originally adopted out in February, returned a few days later because she's deaf, adopted again in March, and here she is back again. The second family adopted her knowing she was deaf, they said "Dog is nice dog but has an aggressive playful manner. Best w/ house w/ no young kids. Dog is deaf so training is difficult". Their "young kid" is 13 yrs old. They kept her outside day and night, maybe she wouldn't be so "playfully aggressive" if she had more interaction with her family. They have a cat and said that the dog liked the cat. She's being reviewed on 6/3, please send to anyone you know who works with deaf dogs. Thank you!

Resending this plea with updated photos of Miss Ruby Duby. She is a tiny girl (maybe 30-35 lbs) with spunk just needing some guidance and training. I got to spend some time with her yesterday and fell in love with Ruby. If you know of anybody out there with a big enough heart to take this adorable deaf girl in, please have them contact the Pasadena Humane Society (contact info below) immediately as her review date has been set for June 3rd. Thank you for helping me network this sweetheart.

Houston TX: human mom died and Mabel deteriorating in boarding

Please help Mabel

The Homeless Pet Placement League in Houston, Texas is trying to place Mabel again. Her perfect human died suddenly and now Mabel is deteriorating in a boarding kennel.

Hi, my name is Mabel.. my 'tail' is a sad one. I was adopted from HPPL two years ago after waiting in the kennel for such a long time for a forever home. I had the most wonderful mom and I was the light of her life. We took long rides to Ohio to see my new grandma, went to the beach in Galveston, and I even got to ride on the front of a canoe and then go swimming!

I adjusted to each new event in my life because there is nothing better than having a home to call your own. Sadly, my mom died suddenly and I am alone again - I was taken to be boarded yesterday and am VERY stressed! Do you have a place in your heart for a sweet loyal girl like me? I am very smart and like to play, take long walks as well as just hang out. I am four years old and attentive to the folks that I bond to. I am a good girl who just needs a stable environment with someone I can love. Please foster me or better yet, please give me a forever home!!. Please tell everyone as I will not do very good where I am..and finally, if neither could you help sponsor even one week of my incarceration?

To donate for Mabel, please call (713) 862-7387 or see http://www.hppl.org/ or email hppl@hppl.org orJeannice Cain at jcain@smartgrouphouston.com (smartgrouphouston.com)

Sherry W wrote:

This has been written in honor of Mabel's mom who dearly loved each one of the three HPPL animals she adopted over the years. She was the kind of adopter that all of us hope for. She went into a coma and never recovered. When I went to the hospital to see her, I told her how much Mabel needed her. I hoped I could reach a part of her that could still hear me but it was not to be. I know I speak for her when I say...'please find a special place for my Mabel' .

If you can't adopt me, please FOSTER ME, it could save my life!

I am about 1 year old and a female German Shepherd mix. I am a sweet girl but did not have much luck so far. I am still quite thin even though I now weigh around 50 lbs, but when I first arrived I only weighed 28 lbs! I was seized by animal control because the people who had mean were cruel to me. Do I resent it? No, actually I get very attached to whomever cares for me, and I become protective. I would be a great companion for a single woman who lives by herself: she would feel safe with me, even though I am not mean at all!

(By the way, because I am current on my rabies vaccination, the adoption fee would be $55.00 instead of $65.)

They love me over there, at the pound, but... pets are killed every Tuesday and I may be next... If you think you and I could live together, PLEASE HURRY, I have only so much time left... Look at me and tell me I don't deserve to live! Please adopt me or foster me BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! Call (337) 394-1220 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. DO NOT E-MAIL, the volunteers who posted me on this site have no additional information, you would just be wasting precious time. Just call (337) 394-1220 NOW! It may be difficult to reach someone on the phone because the staff has so much to do, but leave a message and please keep trying.

Houston TX area (Hempstead): Country Paws Rescue Closing

Please crosspost news story below (also at this link)

Country Paws Rescue Closing

11:10 AM Fri, May 30, 2008 Permalink
Stacy Fox
E-mail

Desperate help needed in placing over 100 healthy adoptable animals!

We received this email from a volunteer with Country Paws Rescue in Hempstead, TX..."It is with regret that I need to inform you that Country Paws Rescue, Hempstead, TX will be closing because of the loss of financial support. Country Paws is in desperate need of placing approximately 80 dogs and 60 cats so they will not be euthanized. Every attempt will be made to extend the time of the animals at the shelter for another week. Photos were taken today and will be available on a web site Saturday morning, May 31. All adoption fees on these dogs and cats will be waived. They are healthy, happy animals and personal profiles will be available on each of them. Anyone interested in adoption should contact Kim either on her cell phone 281-932-9347 or e-mail which is: HappyDogs9@yahoo.com. All potential adopters will be carefully screened. The shelter is not set up for personal visitation without an appointment. Arrangements will be made for personal visits to the shelter thru Kim."

I spoke with Kim and they hope to extend the deadline until the end of next week. In addition to scheduling appointments for adopters, they are also accepting donations of food and money to help care for the animals for the coming week. They will also provide a link to the photos of the animals as soon as possible.

5 Dogs Saved from DEATH- Thank you!

To say I'm emotional at this moment would be a grand understatement. Since last Sunday May 18th, I've been working this case…and pretty much nothing else. This is the case of 5 dogs scheduled to be KILLED at the LA County Shelter. They belonged to a "challenged" man, who truly became a victim of the system. One of his dogs was involved in a biting, yet all 5 were scheduled to be KILLED. His lawyer took his money and soon disappeared, leaving him stranded. With no resources at all to turn to, a colleague in Oregon referred him to me. The case was very personal to me, as I had just lost one of my dogs. I would do this for my Boots.

The logistics of this rescue was huge. Negotiations with animal control, police agencies, the sanctuary, district attorney, the owner of the dogs and the vet, as well as flight arrangements. If they could not be placed in a "sanctuary" they would be killed. SIMPLE AS THAT. The only place I could find was http://www.smilingdogfarms.org/ NO ONE else would step up. NO ONE….

The incredible support I received from so many of you made this all possible. Aside from a few naysayers, who attempt to thwart the efforts of true rescues with negative underpinnings, all was positive. This case fueled at least 500-1000 email, plus countless hours on the phone. I do not have time in my schedule to fend off negatives, yet rather focus on the reason I started BOUND ANGELS… to save lives – simple as that. Not to argue, answer silly emails, defend nor explain myself.

I am eternally grateful to ALL of you who helped make this rescue possible. Jose, the owner of the dogs was in tears as my final negotiation with the City Attorney allowed him to keep one of the dogs ( a negotiation which lasted over a week). In the 11th hour, the dogs were rescued and airlifted to Texas. I have photos and a video to follow. Stay posted for that. But for now, I wanted to share the good news with you even though I am thoroughly wiped out. Again, thank you all… May the joy you've brought in saving these lives shine upon each and every one of you.

With kind regards,

Robert Cabral

PLEASE HELP CROSSPOST ASAP

This poor young pit/lab cross female is suffering with severe cherry
eye and needs help ASAP. She's about 6 months old extremely sweet and
will shower you with kisses. This sweet girl had been dumped
obviously because of her condition.

We need a rescue to take her or if anyone can help with the surgery
costs we will get her in to a vet to get them fixed ASAP. I am really
worried about her fate because the pound is very close to full
capacity and they don't want her to sit there and suffer with this
much longer. Time is of the essence in this matter and they would
love to see her get a second chance.

If needed I could give her a ride this Sat or Sun to Medford, Oregon
off of the I-5 freeway if someone is willing to help her. Please
email Tana at 2theresq@gmail.com. Or contact the Del Norte County
pound directly at 707-464-7235 and ask for Andrea or little Dave.

He has a funny little horse bark and tried to go after every big doggie today. what an adorable little eewak. today he started sneezing really bad with stuff coming out of his nose and was coughing and is starting to get an upper respiratory, and also needs a dental desperately! V.I.P. Meiko Running Free

On May 20th a Very Inspirational Pet crossed Rainbow Bridge. She was a rescue pet in a very special rescue "gang." Meiko's human is inspired. She helps all in need who cross her path. She has helped all manner of souls from Katrina people to Katrina pets, from Shetland sheep dogs to Shetland sheep, from L.A. L.A. Land to LA land, from Mastiff to Doxie, helping countless lost dogs and lost people. Thank you to Meiko for a spirit that graces an uncountable number of souls.

For those who wish to make a donation in Meiko's name, any size gift would be very significant and appreciated. Please visit Companion Pet Adoption and mail your tax-deductible gift to that 501(c)3 organization at: P.O. Box 19755, New Orleans, LA 70179. Visit Meiko's Dogster page to see her photos and to read the poem her mom placed there A MILLION TIMES I WILL CRY...

Mei can also be honored by eating Sadie Cookies --- delicious, homemade, healthy treats, that the dogs will do just about any trick in the book for. All proceeds go to help Sadie’s sister Hope (see Hope's Dogster page) --- a special rescued doggie who has undergone extensive orthopedic surgeries, and more are still needed. WOOF!

Subject: Mack the "Mature" Pit... DONATION NEEDED!!

Please help forward and crosspost for Mack... thanks!

Meet Mack the "Mature" pit. Mack's life changed drastically once his owners who had him for 10 years had to turn him into the shelter because they were moving. Poor Mack has been at the shelter since April and due to his age and breed no one has shown interest in him. Thankfully for Mack, Fresno Bully rescue stepped up to save him!!! YEY!! Fresno Rescue is a wonderful new rescue and take great care of their dogs. They offered to take Mack and as a "thank you" we want to raise some money for them. If you can donate to help with Mack's care, please email me at HEB218 AT YAHOO.COM and I will let you know where and when to send it. THANK YOU!
Hanna and Mack :)

A Tribute on MEMORIAL DAY to our Forgotten Heroes

In fierce fighting and deep in enemy territory, American pigeons carried life-or-death messages that radio and field phones could not.

This Memorial Day, when we commemorate the men and women who have died in war, we will also take a moment to reflect on how many pigeons and animals have also suffered and died for human military purposes.

Do you know that pigeons saved the lives of thousands of people during World War 1 and World War 11. Medals were bestowed upon the following pigeons for acts of bravery and for saving the lives of thousands of humans.

Stockton CA: Foreclosure capital of America. 2 sweet orphan dogs. Pls RESCUE THEM ASAP

Please save these two or crosspost their info--- Lucky and This Dog need out of high-kill Stockton Shelter in central California. Contact Volunteer Sue at dansuemosby@comcast.net or the shelter ASAP.

This Dog - ID#A118302

is female, black and white Border Collie. My age is unknown. I have been at the shelter since May 17, 2008. Sue wrote: She's a small border collie mix that is very, very sweet and affectionate. I put a hold on her last week thinking I might be able to get somebody to take her in, but not yet. I can pull these two girls and help with transport if somebody can take them in.

There were 186 records posted per the City of Stockton Animal Control Petharbor webpage yesterday. I don't know why these two cuties were impounded but their chances of rehoming are diminished by their being in the "Foreclosure Capital of America (so-called per 60 Minutes*). Volunteer Sue Mosby has highlighted these two for crossposting to help them get rescue. Please save them if you can or crosspost further to someone who may be able to rescue them. Call Stockton Animal Shelter at (209) 937-8274 -- Ask for information about animal ID numbers A118369 and A118302.

LUCKY - ID#A118369 My name is LUCKY. I am a female, black Border Collie and Chow Chow. My age is unknown. I have been at the shelter since May 20, 2008

*Steve Kroft reported on 60 Minutes:Stockton is a city of 280,000 people in the Central Valley; 80 miles east of San Francisco and 80 miles north of San Jose. In many ways, this is ground zero for the current financial crisis and a microcosm of everything that went wrong.

A few years ago, it was one of the hottest real estate markets in the country; today it is the foreclosure capital of America.
