Lucky is a 10 yr old Great Pyrenees who was rescued several years ago from the shelter. Now, he finds himself once again needing a home. His mom is relocating out of state for graduate school and will not be able to afford to keep Lucky. He is a sensitive boy that is easily stressed so we are hoping to help him find a home right away, before his mom leaves to allow for a slow transition into his new home. We only have 3 weeks! He is good with other dogs and as since he is getting up there in age he is not too high energy. He has a thyroid condition that requires him to be on inexpensive medications. Please consider giving him a loving and forever home for the rest of his years.

Update on Sasha, Wasco Puppy Thrown From Car
Several weeks ago we rescued Sasha - the little shepherd mix puppy with the mysterious leg injury at the Wasco shelter. X-rays revealed that both sides of her pelvic area were totally shattered. We cannot imagine how much this poor puppy suffered while her owners did nothing to treat her injury. . . She will need to have surgery to regain normal use of her hind quarters. After consulting 4 vets, the consensus is that Sasha needs a procedure called a Femural Head Ostectomy (FHO). Her prognosis is great and she is happy as can be in her foster home. Her foster family plans to adopt Sasha once she is available after her surgery. Thank you to everyone who cared about and supported Sasha.

Want to help other Wasco dogs like Sasha? The shelter is underfunded and in desperate need of food donations. Nature's Select is willing to provide their high quality food at cost for the Wasco shelter. You can call Rick at Nature's Select Premium Pet Foods in Bakersfield at 661-833-3180 where an account has been set up for Wasco and make a donation over the phone. The cost is 50 cents per pound. Please help!
Update on Pregnant Senior Dumped at Camarillo
Mama, the 11 yr old pregnant Shepherd mix that was dumped at Camarillo , is happily caring for her 2 puppies in a foster home and doing well. Her 2 male puppies, born in the shelter the day after she was dropped off, will not face the same hardship that their mom did.
"Twitter" and "Rover" are 6 weeks old now and are handsome, healthy puppies. They will be available for adoption in the coming weeks and are well on their way to a long and happy life.
We Need Your Help!
Shadow's Fund has incurred a very sizeable debt for medical care for our recent special needs rescues like Sasha and Mama & her puppies. Please consider making a contribution to help with our medical fund.
Urgently In Need of a Home . . . .
Precious is a 13 yr old Staffie that was dumped at the shelter when her humans got divorced and neither wanted her. After an entire life with one family, she found herself left behind at the shelter. What's worse, her former family did not bother to socialize Precious with other dogs so she is not dog friendly. She is being fostered by Sh adow's Fund, but sadly spends most of her time alone since she cannot mix with our other dogs. This adorable little girl is the sweetest senior. She smiles when she sees you, and wants nothing more than to simply be in the same room as her person. She is low energy, healthy (though her old bones are pretty stiff) and a joy to be around. She loves to snuggle and give kisses. It breaks our heart to see her spend so much time alone when all she wants is to be close to someone. She would be a great companion for a retiree or someone who works from home.
Bo is a 2 yr old female German Shepherd that needs someone to care about her. She was recently hit by a car, fracturing her pelvis. Her family was either unable or unwilling to provide medical care for her so she was surrendered. Bo is now being treated by a caring local vet who will perform surgery on Bo. Her prognosis for a full recovery is great, but Bo is basically homeless now. After her surgery, she will need a caring family to open their home and hearts to her so that she has somewhere to go. She is young, sweet and healthy aside from her injury. After a little down time, Bo should heal just fine and be good as new and ready to start the rest of her life. Please give Bo the home she deserves.
If you would like to give one of these great dogs a home, please contact us right away.
Thank you for caring!
