I need some help with getting people to come to these hearings and support these initiatives. Even if you do not want to speak you can enter a written statement of support for these initiatives. Please brings friends and support this:

PLEASE CROSSPOST TO ALL LOCALLY...
JEFFERSON, ORLEANS, ST. BERNARD, PLAQUEMINES, ST. CHARLES AND ST. JOHN PARISHES!

Your support is needed at a public hearing on the newly proposed Jefferson Parish sponsored non-mandatory/voluntary Low/No Cost Spay/Neuter plan. We need numbers at these meetings to get the council to approve this proposed plan. This is a plan that could spread to other parishes... so please let's all support Jefferson Parish's plan by showing a force of people at these hearings. If you cannot attend both, you should be at least one meeting.

The plan that is proposed in Jefferson Parish is a $5 increase in the rabies tag fee. Generated, by today's population, will be $188,000 annually to be dedicated to a JP Spay/Neuter program for cats and dogs in Jefferson Parish. The majority of these spay/neuters, approximately 6,000 a year, will be at no cost made available to JP residents.

This proposed plan is not the end all, but it is a beginning and if it passes in Jefferson the same could be possible in all surrounding parishes. It will be much easier to propose in other parishes if one is already doing it through a raise in the rabies tag fee.

Please, plan to attend both meetings if at all possible...
