I also sent the information about all of the offers (spay/neuter, fosters, transport, sponsors) directly to Jennifer (kennel care manager) and Joanna (adoption counselor) at the shelter, so they can inform any rescues they may be contacting.> > According to them, there may be a pull list for rescues as of tomorrow morning...animals that are claimed by rescues but which can't be picked up today. Those animals would either be picked up in the morning or picked up from the new shelter. I think because the offers are out there, we should honor our offers for those animals, as well.

The list of cats is HERE (<---click for list) About 10 cats/kittens have been sprung. The white Turkish Angora is being taken in by a rescue in MD. Many more need help.

Here's the SHELTER web site: http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/MD247.html

There are LOTS of dogs there too. An offer of free spay/neuter for the first 50 animals (cats or dogs) rescued before close-of-business Tuesday June 30, 2009 has been made by Last Chance Humane:

To All 501(3)c Rescues: Last Chance Humane in Waldorf, MD is offering free spays/neuters for the first 50 animals (cats or dogs) pulled from Prince George's County Animal Management by the end of the day tomorrow, Tuesday, June 30th. Their vaccination/ testing fees are also low, so you can take advantage of that, as well.
Please contact lastchancehumane "at" yahoo dot com to take advantage of this offer.
Thank you!

needing help with descriptions below. Thank you in advance for your
efforts.

A3969054 Louise is a well-behaved, one year old female Pit Bull puppy
who came into the shelter as a stray on May 7th. Initially shy, this
easygoing, gentle girl is easy to walk on the leash and has obviously
received some training. Louise will make a wonderful family dog and
can be found in Kennel 307. NEEDS RESCUE IMMEDIATELY. THIS DOG HAS
BEEN THERE FOR EVER

A3979707 Graham is a one year old neutered male Chihuahua/terrier mix
puppy who came into the shelter as a stray on May 29th. Active and
affectionate, this intelligent boy will do anything for a treat and
will be easily to train. Graham has a warm personality and a high
level of energy. Good with other dogs, this active puppy will make a
great pet for families living in either apartments or private homes.
Graham is in Kennel 420. Graham is a FANTASTIC DOG!

A3980834 To keep things simple, Emma is absolutely perfect! She is an
eight month old Pit Bull mix puppy who does not understand the word
"aloof!" Full of kisses and affection, this forty pound girl will
probably weigh around fifty-five pounds when fully grown. Emma came
into the shelter as a stray on June 1st and quickly won the hearts of
everyone! She gets along with other dogs, loves belly rubs and gives
kisses! Emma will make a phenomenal pet for an active family living
in a private home. Emma is in Kennel 304.

A3981485 Franklin is a two year old male white and brown Chihuahua who
came into the shelter as a stray on June 2nd. A little hefty, this
well-behaved boy weighs approximately fifteen pounds but could afford
to go on a diet! Great with people and other dogs, this medium-energy
boy loves being held and cuddled. Franklin will be great with senior
citizens or will make a phenomenal pet for families living in
apartments or private homes. Franklin is in Kennel 401.

A3981713 Baby is a nine year old female Terrier mix who was dumped at
the shelter on June 2nd for the crime of being too old. This twenty
pound girl is terrified and depressed at being in the shelter. Not
particularly good with children, Baby would make an outstanding
companion for a senior citizen looking for unconditional love. She is
a great dog who is just too scared at the shelter to show her true
colors. She deserves a chance! Baby is in Kennel 331. Baby is very
scared and testy at the shelter. She can be hot/cold and is very
afraid of being there. A rescue would have to give her some time and
help her come out of her shell again. This dog stands zero chance at
the shelter.

the leash and knows several commands. She gets along splendidly with
children and other dogs and would make a fantastic pet for families in
any living situation. Muneca is in Kennel 301.

A3551358 Max is a three year old neutered male Boxer/Labrador
Retriever mix who was dumped at the shelter on June 18th. Strong and
energetic, this fifty pound boy would make a really great running
partner. Full of kisses and affection, Max adored people but will
probably do best as an only dog. He will make a wonderful pet for an
active family. Max is in Kennel 217. I personally handled Max at the
Saturday adoption event. He's super sweet and would make a fantastic
running partner for an active person. He needs some direction as far
as meeting other dogs and getting his excitability under control.

Weighing approximately forty-five pounds, this high-energy girl loves
to be the center of attention! She loves her treats and will be
easily trainable. She gets along well with other dogs and adores
children. Roxy will make a perfect pet for active families living in

has a moderate energy level. He likes to sit on adults' laps and will
make a great pet for a senior citizen or a family with no young
children. Toto is in Kennel 426.

abandoned at the shelter by his owner on June 19th because he does not
bark loudly enough! Weighing twenty pounds, Pacino is totally
overwhelmed and frightened at being in the shelter, but once he

warmed up considerably and was licking our faces! He's a great dog
who would make a perfect pet for families living in apartments or
private homes. Pacino is in Kennel 246.

San Bernardino, California: purebred Welsh Corgi

From: kupperhouse@mac.com mac.com
Date: Sun, 28 Jun 2009

Hi to all - Found this pure breed Welsh Corgi the other day and I am trying to find it a good home. She had a growth on her head and an impacted tooth which were removed by the vet. The vet estimates that she is around 10 years old. We also had her groomed. Not good with other dogs or cats. She seems to be a one-owner dog. She has a very sweet temperament and is great with children. She likes to be petted and loved on! Animal Control is full of pets that are being put down in around 4 days if not adopted due to the recent increase of people dumping their animals for financial and other reasons. If you know anyone who could adopt her could you please pass this on. Thank you.

Karlie is medium-sized, unspayed, about 35 lbs, only 7 months old. Karlie is in Lincoln or nearby. Lincoln is a small town in the small Logan County in the middle of Illinois. Contact Cherie Preston cappiyou@yahoo.com 217- 735- 4104 if you can rescue Karlie. This is extremely urgent and time is of the essence.

Owners will sign Karlie over to a rescue organization if one will offer to take her. Flies are eating her so bad her ears are bleeding. She can go on a Saturday transport to Chicago IF SOMEONE OFFERS TO RESCUE HER.

Cherie Preston wrote:
If you can help please let me know so we can get her out of this horrible situation that she does not deserve, she is so young and scared. Transport is available,

Ruth from Hillsboro told me to forward these pictures of this pup. She is 7 months old, the family does not feed or water her, my daughter goes there every day to do that. She is chained outside with a plastic pet carrier and the flies are eating her up. The family is getting ready to take her to animal control and have her put to sleep. They have a pair of breeding German Shepherds that they take care of because they think they can make money off of them. I have already talked with this family and asked them to hold off on putting the Sharpei Mix to sleep to see if you all could take her. They are willing to sign a relinquish form. Please let me know as soon as possible as I look for them to put her down.

Rosemead, California: Adopt Bunnie the Bull Dog/AST

She always wears a huge pittie grin...Won’t someone give her a real reason to smile by adopting her?
Bunnie, the dog, needs a home

http://flarescue.org/

Bunnie has such a steadfast personality. Her energy is contagious. When we met her in the shelter, she was hopping up and down in her cage (hence the name) as if to say, "Oh, please play with me. Choose me. Choose me."
This 5-year-old American Bull Dog/American Staffordshire Terrier mix loves people. She loves running and playing. Bunnie plays fetch, sits on command, and gently “releases” toys she has fetched. She rides great in the car and loves walks. She is a happy girl eager to prove to someone that she has what it takes to be a great companion. Bunnie wants to be the center of attention in her family. She would prefer not to share the space with other pets.
Please contact For the Love of Animals Dog and Cat Rescue at (626) 524-1939 or
bailey@flarescue.org for information about Bunnie.

Los Angeles: $$$ please!!! Sweet 7-month-old Sharpei/Pit with Demodex mange

Krista Nielsen <ironbabe1973@yahoo.com> wrote on 6/26/09 :
Lexi is very sweet REDLISTED 7 month old puppy covered in mange at the North Central Shelter. Her story is below. An independent rescuer who specializes in dogs with mange would like to save her but needs donations to help cover the medical costs. I know times are tough and I really hate to beg but if you could help out by donating anything it would be greatly appreciated and of course save Lexi's life. If you can help please email Nikki at: huxleylove@roadrunner.com.
Thank you very much.

Lexi - ID#A1017755 - was adopted from the shelter in March at 3 months. She was turned in to shelter on June 23rd covered in mange with ALOT of fur missing. Seriously - how could her owner's let her get like this? This advanced case of mange does not happen overnight! It takes to weeks to get like this AND it is extremely uncomfortable. This poor girl has been suffering for awhile. If her owner's could not afford treatment, they should of have turned her into the shelter a long time ago. Lexi is REDLISTED at the shelter after being there for only four days because her mange is so severe.
I met Lexi today. Despite her condition she is a happy and loving puppy. She is sharing a kennel with a big Pitbull and I found them laying next to each other. It was very cute. When I approached the kennel, Lexi got up right away wagging her entire body, so happy for attention. Despite all the missing fur, she is a cutie. With proper treatment, she will be a stunning girl. Lexi has DEMEDOX mange and it is NOT contagious or really too hard to treat - but it does require treatment and will cost some money. Lexi is a sweet, loving, happy, dog friendly 7 month old Sharpei/Pitbull puppy. It is not her fault the wrong people adopted her. She needs to find a REAL FOREVER HOME!! AND SOON!! The shelter is so overcrowded a sick puppy has no chance. Please help this wonderful puppy LIVE THE HAPPY LIFE SHE DESERVES!!
