Subject: Scrappy, too, found DEAD!!
From the many responses I am receiving regarding dog shootings, dogs, apparently, are at major risk of being shot ESPECIALLY in rural areas. I had no idea that farmers and ranchers and other property owners shoot at anything that trespasses on their properties, including dogs wearing collars with ID tags! So, man is not always dog's best friend! I have suggested to Lynn to do as needed to get surveillance cameras up in this area. This man (or woman) will bring more dead animals to this track (pattern). He/she needs to be caught and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. FYI: Gus and Scrappy got out of their garage when a family member, coming home, opened the garage door, not knowing the dogs were in there, waiting to be dried off (bath? rain? not sure). The family member did not see the dogs in the garage or see them leave the garage. This is not a case where the dogs digged out of a yard or jumped a fence, which is far more common scenario. Please feel free to send Lynn Haney your words of support as well as any constructive ideas you may have to help catch this pathetic excuse for a human being. Please see below. Subject: Sad Update on LOST Dogs Gus and Scrappy - Two Dogs Lost in Summerwood Area
Remember this LOST DOG alert (see below)? Sadly, Gus was found, yesterday, only 3 miles away from home, dead with a bullet hole in his right side, laying over railroad tracks. Scrappy is still missing.
They got out from their home on December 7/09.
And, these dogs had collars and ID tags on them, as well as ID microchips!
This serves as a reminder that our dogs are not safe out in the world, on their own. They are at the mercy of whomever they cross paths with.
Let's pray for the safe and sound return of Scrappy!

Thank you so much for helping us find our dogs, Gus and Scrappy. Also, I was on the phone with a lady and she told me to check the new construction areas. So, I am just getting back from doing that. I will check again tomorrow.
Thank you again. I am glad to know that there are other people out there that care.

This is Scrappy, she is 4 yrs old. She is a medium sized (48 lbs) female black Shepherd Mix ... she is wearing a faded orange collar with a pink heart name tag ... it could have fallen off. Her nose is long like a Shepherd and her ears are pointed and her tail is usually up. She has a very thin white stripe down her chest, you can't really notice it unless you are looking for it. You can see her stripe in the "snow" photo. She has a microchip as well. She is very friendly and enjoys playing "dress-up" with our girls.
This is big (110lbs) Gus, he is 6.5 yrs old. He is a Black Lab and is beginning to get a few gray/white whiskers around his muzzle. He is wearing a red collar, with a blue bone shaped name tag and he has a microchip. He is very friendly and will knock you over while he is wagging his tail.
This is a photo of Gus and Scrappy together. You can see the difference in size. I have a feeling that they are still together, where ever they are.
Thank you again!
