CAN YOU GUESS WHAT BREED I AM??????
WHY would they put such a sweet girl to sleep. BECAUSE THEY SAID SHE WAS A PIT.
Kiely has been with our rescue for a year and a half because everyone who saw her said she was a small PIT.
We knew Kiely was not a Pit but needed the proof.
We ordered and did a DNA Test. Our group of volunteers all sat down and listed three breeds we though Kiely may be, before opening the test results.
We were all SHOCKED by the two primary breeds Kiely was listed as.
BOSTON TERRIER AND ENGLISH BULLDOG.
The other four breeds also in her profile are
Belgian Tervuren
Boxer
Saluki
Italian Greyhound.
We will now be offering DNA testing to our adopters if they are in question of our dogs classifications.
I will encourage all rescues who have hard to place dogs, because of their breed classification to infest in DNA Testing.
To many GOOD dogs are given the wrong classification in shelters and sentenced to death. By giving adopters a more accurate classification, all will increase their adoptions.
If DNA testing is not affordable by shelters or rescues, PLEASE consider giving an alternative classification OTHER THEN PIT.
