ALLISON DYER AT AllisonD@animaladvocatesalliance.org WROTE 5/1:
Please help us find placement for one of our previously adopted dogs who need to be rehomed. Please cross-post.
LIBBY
Libby is a beautiful Pointer/Boxer/Lab/Pit??? Mix. She was rescued as a puppy last summer from the Camarillo shelter after being in the isolation area and scheduled for euthanization. She received a life-saving surgery and was placed into what we believed was going to be a forever home with a wonderful family. Libby is now 1 1/2 years old and has grown up with 2 young girls, an older male Jack Russel terrier and a cat in her home. She is an indoor dog who is housetrained and respectful of furniture. She is large around 60 lbs. She has always been wonderful with her family, playing with the girls, gentle with her furry family members too and just a wonderful dog. She has been to the dog park and socialized with other dogs and people of all ages since she was a puppy.
Her family recently (3 months ago) brought an alpha male small terrier into her home. This new dog was aggressive with Libby and she and the terrier ended up injuring each other. Obviously with Libby's size the terrier received the brunt of the injuries requiring stitches. The family, after witnessing their wonderful dog in an aggressive situation, now sees Libby differently and are nervous about her around their Jack Russel and their cat. This new dog belongs to the inlaws and is evidently staying permanantly so the family has decided that Libby has to go. They are looking for placement for Libby as soon as possible. She is still in the home and just being kept separate from the family so we really need to get her into a new loving situation immediately.
Libby is located in Simi Valley, CA (Just North of Los Angeles approx 45 miles from LA) but the family is willing to travel to get her a new home. They say they are devastated and want Libby to find a new family who will love her forever.
