Subject: Ebony - "Possible" Sighting On Saturday Night
Sue, I just received an email from Reverend Van Dyke with the Methodist church in Altamont. He said he "may" have seen Ebony on Saturday night in the north part of Altamont around the intersection of N. Third St. and W. Monroe Ave. I've attached a little map with a blue "X" where she had been seen around the A&H Implement Co. and a red "X" where Reverend Van Dyke may have seen her. He said he was not able to see the dog very closely and could not tell if it was wearing a red collar. He said it appeared to him as if the dog was acting lost. He will contact me if he has anything else to report.
Trudie

EBONY BROKE HER LEASH ON TRANSPORT ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 14 AT THE MCDONALDS PARKING LOT IN ALTAMONT, IL. IT’S AT EXIT 82 OFF I-70 AT APPROXIMATELY 1 PM. HER COLLAR IS RED. HER NAME, EBONY, THE NAME OF THE RESCUE, GREATER DAYTON LABRADOR RETRIEVER RESCUE AND RENEE’S TELEPHONE NUMBER – 937-830-2020 WERE ON HER COLLAR. LAST SPOTTED ON HIGHWAY 40, CUMBERLAND ROAD BY THE A & H IMPLEMENT DEALER.
IF YOU SEE HER, SHE IS VERY, VERY TERRIFIED. SHE WAS A BREEDER DOG AND HAS NO IDEA OF WORLD AROUND HER. ALL SHE KNOWS IS HAVING BABIES. SHE WILL NOT COME TO YOU. SHE WILL BOLT. IN ORDER TO CATCH HER, YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE AT LEAST 4-5 PEOPLE THAT COULD SURROUND HER AND YOU WILL HAVE TO USE A CATCH POLE TO GET HER OR YOU MIGHT HAVE TO SET UP A LIVE TRAP TO CATCH HER.
PLEASE, IF YOU SEE HER AND ARE ABLE TO CATCH HER, PLEASE, PLEASE, CONTACT ME, SUSAN TURTURICE, THE TRANSPORT COORDINATOR AT 313-806-2033 OR CONTACT RENEE FROM GREATER DAYTON LABRADOR RETRIEVER RESCUE AT 937-830-2020.
I thought I could wait until I got home from work to write this, but I just couldn't. OMG!!! My heart is breaking and I'm so numb right now. I need to let everyone know that Ebony is gone. She was hit by a car just outside of Altamont this morning and died instantly.
I got a call from Dr. Nancy from the Altamont Vet Clinic this morning saying she received a phone call from someone reporting a dog hit at the side of the road on West Hwy 40 about 3 miles east of Altamont. Nancy needed someone to go and identify the body to make sure it was Ebony since she was out of town and couldn't. I called Leslie Croxwell because she lives just outside of Altamont and she was able to go out there along with one of the workers from the clinic. It was Ebony
. They identified her from her collar. I also called Trudie & Pat right away to let them know. They brought her back to the clinic and we've made arrangements for her to be cremated and her remains sent to me. I know some of you would want to donate toward her cremation. Please, could you just give a small donation to your local shelter in Ebony's name instead.

We will never, ever forget all that was done to help save her. In the end, she's gone over the Rainbow Bridge. She truly is safe now. Take care my friends. We are now truly bonded together thru Ebony.
Love,
Sue

Hello,
I recognize that you might not be in the IL area but I beg you to pass on this information to everyone you know as you NEVER know when the right contact can help - losing a dog en route on a transport is one of the most devastating things to have happen - please, please share this information!
Your sister in rescue, Kerin
