There is an older boy in the Ventura County shelter
in Camarillo. I have friends in Ventura Co. who can
pull this boy for me, but I don't have room to take
him. Last week there was a lot of interest in Hoshiko,
the 12 year old at the Santa Cruz shelter when his
owner died. Maybe another email blast will prompt a
few people to take this boy in ?

I can arrange a "pony express" for him. I will drive
down to Paso Robles, where one of my Ventura Co.
friends may bring him up for me.

Buddy came in with a young frightened shepherd. They were taken to the shelter by the kids of an elderly woman who died, they wanted the shelter to put the dogs down so they did not have to deal with them. Buddy is approx 11 years old, he has a tumor in his ear and a abscess that opened up on his neck. Surgery will be needed for the tumor. A drain has been put in the abscess. He is a super sweet boy, and the shelter is having a hard time with having to decide to put him down or not because he is so sweet. The Shepherd is young, very afraid. He will take treats from your hand and then run to the back of the cage. He is a good submissive dog, just will not show well in the kennel.

The next one is a 12 year old Chow mix. Very nice dog, is matted and had stickers stuck up under his armpit and could not even walk. The ACO officer pulled them out gently, and the poor dog cried in pain. He is okay now with the exception he also has a tumor on his penis that will need to be removed at some point. He is neutered.

This little female Jack Russell is 12 lbs. She came from a Jack Russell Breeder who bred her out, she is blind in one eye. She is super sweet and is approximately 10 years old.

The last one is a Neutered male Beagle, approx 5 years old. No medical issues, could stand to lose a few pounds.

Please let us know if you can help with any of these dogs.. There are also 4 pregnant cats that need a rescue as well...

We desperately need to get the funds for this sweet dog. He has had one surgery and will need a second surgery.

We have taken in a 3 year old pit that was a bait dog we have named Mama and a German Shepherd that has mammary gland tumors we are trying to get in to have her surgery. We will post them later this week. Something people don't realize is that we post 1 in every 10 animals we help. If the funds are not there, I personally pay the cost and there is only so much I can do. Please, help us with the animals we ask for funds on. Those are the ones you hear about but there are a lot more that are helped.

Houston TX: Engineering student's dog in BARC quarantine

An engineering student at UH didn't get his dog's rabies vaccination renewed right on time. It happens. But, he has a neighbor who says his dog bit her dog, maybe-maybe not, but she called BARC to complain. So, of course, BARC shows up and takes the kid's dog to quarantine. The good news-bad news is that the quarantine is at a vet clinic and not at BARC. Good not to be at the shelter and bad because it is $20/day, on top of the BARC fine and the $76 mandatory chip BARC requires. The clinic seems decent. They will update all the dog's shots, do a fecal and the heartworm test (and a six-month supply of Heartguard) and the chip for something like $190. That's a good deal, but on top of quarantine and fines, it's a lot for a student. I said I would send out a note to see if anyone would like to donate.
