BAFN Critters in urgent need
Adopt or Foster fabulous Joe Cocker
Description:
Age: 1 Year
Sex: Male
Breed: Cocker Spaniel
Color: Black, White, and Brown
Poor little Brownie was found wondering the streets of Buswick, in search off food. His beautiful face was so dirty that no one would look his way. We don't know if he was lost or abandoned, but no one appears to be looking for him. This little baby has an amazing personality and would be a great addition to any family. He is truly one of a kind! Please take him home with you...
Adopt or foster Oscar a one-eyed, caramel bundle of love!

From the emergency foster home:
Hi BAFN,
Oscar is at Dr Mann's office now getting that eye removed. Such a nice doctor and nice practice! I remember Dr Mann when he was an Intern at Northside Veterinary here is Williamsburg. He treated both of my dogs at different times about 2 yrs ago. Good doc.
I pick Oscar up at 7 tonight and I am not sure if/when he needs a follow up but that might be a good time to take a picture for the paper with the whole staff, the doctor and, of course Oscar. I can bring him any time and if necessary, I can bring a photographer who is a friend of mine and specializes in dog photography, or if the paper wants to send their own person that's fine too. I have to leave for a week long trip on Friday early morning though and Oscar will be staying with another foster home in City Island NY for the week so I am hoping to get whatever photo's of the process done before Friday or after my return on May 10th.
Thanks again for making this operation possible. Oscar thanks you too!
Here is Oscar. 13lbs, white and gold Shih Tzu. He is a VERY sweet, gentle boy who has been through quite a bit in the last few days. His people who had him for 9 years since he was a puppy, dumped him at the local kill shelter on Wednesday. He was scheduled for euthanasia sometime on Friday but Dianne called them and I went and got him in time. He was already neutered but they inserted a microchip and gave him all his shots just minutes before they turned him over to me.
Needless to say he was very confused and overwhelmed by the whole situation and fell fast asleep in the car on the way home. I had him groomed and bathed immediately because he was crusty and smelled like a sewer. His rear paws and belly had to be clipped to the skin because of severe yeasty rash. He also has bilateral ear infection probably all brought on by his diet of Chinese takeout and other fast food as described by his previous owner. I took him to my vet this morning for ear medicine and to check into his scary looking bulgy red eye. They believe that eye is totally blind and is glaucoma. Their suggestion was to surgically remove the eye. He has medicated shampoo and leave on lotion for the yeast and ear cleaner for the ears.
Oscar is home now after surgery which went really well. He looks a little worse for the wear though. Dr Mann says that he should come back for the follow up in 10-14 days to have the stitches removed.
Thank you so much for helping this little guy.

Lelah Urgent Foster Home Needed. BAFN will deliver.

Age: 3 years
Sex: Neutered Male
Breed: Domestic short hair
Color: White and Gray
Nana was born in Egypt and came here with the owner when he was just a baby. The owner found him when he was just born, an umbilical cord still attached, and took him to NY. The owner needed to move and left the cat with a friend. Due to extreme allergies the friend now gave him up. This poor guy is now sitting in a basement of a store, all alone. Please have a kind heart and give him a foster or adoptive home. The cat is EXTREMELY loving, healthy, neutered, and has all his shots.

Lady's story...
Please call the number below in the description to make an appointment to meet this pet.
Lady who was treated as anything but a lady was found in the Bronx, tied to a fence with a rope. We have no idea who put her there because whoever raised Lady did a wonderful job. She is very sweet, well behaved and knows a number of tricks. Lady needs some work on her pulling but we're getting there. She probably wasnt walked much so being outdoors is very exciting for her. Lady does well with the other dogs she is living but has not been tested with cats. If you love the breed Lady is the one for you.

Pepper recently dumped and rescued at NYCACC, has a normal rhythm but has a "severe" heart murmur - he will require Enapril for the rest of his life. Doc is also going to administer Lasex (sp?) - as well.
Pepper will require a dental as.. his mouth is somewhat a mess - Doc suggested that Pepper's health be stabilized first before putting him under anethesia to do the dental. He will not be neutered either - at this stage of his life - just let him keep his testies.. hes already lost some dignity, and faith in humanity.
Pepper is also on an antibiotica.
The bloods are not back yet, but we should hear something in alittle while.
The blood is his urine was just a drop - and his xray was clear- nothing to worry about, perhaps just an infection traveling in his blood due to his poor condition, and it seems to have gone away.
Please put your feelers out for this little guy, he needs a home where its not so damn active, a person who can afford his meds monthly (and I want to make the offer to anyone that adopts him, that I will give them half the money towards any medical related and or medications thats Pepper will be required to take for the rest of his life - this is my oath to pepper) unless someone really weatlhy steps ups !!.

Rosie and urgent appeal to foster or adopt
From the foster Mom
Hi,

Two days ago I found a dog in Bushwick near where I work. I have listed her with the NYC animal control as being a "found" dog but they did not seem to think that her owner will surface. I also have called local vets and checked for signs. The day I found her I walked around looking for her owner to no avail.
I had her checked by my vet and she was given her vaccinations. She is young but a fully grown female red nosed pitt. We are calling her Rosie. She is in good health and may have had puppies a few months ago; her teats are extended but not lactating.
I would like to keep fostering Rosie but I would like to get her registered with your organization. I will continue to foster her and I will fill out the necessary fostering application. I want her to get spayed because it seems to me she was used for puppies then discarded.
I have a rescue mixed breed dog. So far they have gotten along and my dog is showing Rosie how to play respectfully. I can fill out the application for fostering once I get a reply from this organization. We cannot keep her because we are moving to an island that pitts are banned so we cannot keep Rosie. We would be open to being foster parents to other dogs possibly in the future. (before we leave)
Please let me know what the next steps we should take. Rosie is just such a remarkably sweet mushy dog I cant possibly let her go to ACC if I cant place her.
