Hi Liz, Can you get the word out on this boy? He's in the Yolo County (Calif) shelter in the town of Woodland, not far from Sacramento. They have Pee Wee listed as a Chi/Shiba Mix. I'm getting another Shiba tomorrow which gives me 6 dogs so I don't have room for any more long term fosters.I will help with getting him out and with transporting. The shelter hasn't had any response from the all-breed rescue orgs they've contacted so far. Thanks,

Hello! I am contacting you about a chihuahua mix named "Pee Wee" (86210) in need of rescue at the Yolo County Animal Services Shelter in Woodland because he is fearful in the shelter environment. Pee Wee is an approximately one year old intact male that weighs approximately 15 lbs. Pee Wee was turned in by someone who had him for only three months (they got him from a family member who supposedly had him since he was a puppy).  He was kept outside only in his latest household. He is described as friendly and very playful with children.They said he was not protective of food or toys.They stated he gets along with other dogs. I basically get the impression that this dog has been very neglected. I have no doubt his personality will blossom with love and attention. In the relatively short period of time that we had him out, he started to warm to being petted and settled down by my assistant's feet and leaned in to her as she was petting him. He just needs someone to give him a chance. Might you be able to help him? I would appreciate hearing from you either way. I appreciate your time and consideration. Thank you and I hope to hear from you.

Darcy is a beautiful orange tabby that is more than 10 years old.  She is loving and affectionate with just a touch of shyness.  She was raised from a kitten by a woman who left her behind in her apartment when she moved out to be with her fiancee who already had a cat so she didn't want Darcy anymore.  The woman's brother moved into the apartment and took care of Darcy but now wants to get rid of her also.  I have no idea why, I'm somewhat of a third party that is posting, but either way, this poor cat deserves BETTER!!!

Melissa heard of this situation and is trying to coordinate finding someone to take Darcy and get her away from this person before Darcy is abandoned completely Melissa would take her but her dogs would not accept her.  Melissa will be the point person since she sees Darcy's "owner" almost everyday.

Please help Darcy find a home or foster before she is kicked out.  Thanks.

Houston TX: Sadi's Obituary

Marcella Pringle wrote on the evening of June 26, 2010

To all,

My baby left me this morning at 11 AM, lying in my arms in our bed.  She was home.  She was cared for in a dignified way by PAWS Memorial.  They came to my home.  I followed them to their beautiful, serene place in the country where we had a viewing and I was able to kiss and love on Sadi just one more time.  I waited in a lovely sitting room, with my wonderful, dear friend, Roger, until her cremains were ready and I brought my baby home forever to be with me.  This is the saddest night of my life.  Please pray for my angel baby.  I've always called all of them my "6-pack" and I shall continue to do so with a slight change.

My pink crepe myrtle bloomed over the night of the 25-26th.  So, Sadi and I awoke on her last morning to a beautiful surprise.  SHE was my beautiful surprise for a little over 9 years.

Goodnight my sweet, sweet Sadi My Lady.  I love you!

Marcella
and the 6-Pack (now including one angel)

SADI'S Obituary
SADI My Lady PRINGLE, age: almost 12, (came into my life in May of 2001 and turned 3 on Labor Day of 2001, the date I gave her as her birthday), crossed the Rainbow Bridge on June 26, 2010 of complications from a cancerous tumor after having beaten lymphoma and hypercalcemia.  Sadi became my baby when I gave $50 to someone who had her chained.  She was a faithful, loving, beautiful companion, was much the lady and will be dearly missed.  In Sadi’s leisure time, she enjoyed treats, especially boiled chicken, cheese and peanutbutter, sleeping in her recliner, lying in my arms like a baby, getting her tummy rubbed, barking at the mailman and chasing birds and “killer” squirrels in the yard.  Sadi is survived by her mom, Marcella Pringle, siblings, Monti, Trixi, Grayci, Shatzi and Selonge.  Sadi was cremated and ashes placed, this evening, in a place of honor in the living room so she will continue to be with her loving family.  A memorial service will not be held but donations in Sadi’s memory may be made to Piggers’ Pals, Scout’s Honor or Friends for Life.

WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME

When tomorrow starts without me,
And I’m not there to see;
The sun will rise and find your eyes
All filled with tears for me.
I wish so much you wouldn’t cry
The way you did today,
I know how much you love me,
As much as I love you,
And each time that you think of me,
I know you’ll miss me, too.
But when tomorrow starts without me,
Please try to understand,
That an angel came and called my name
And petted me with her hand.
She said my place was ready,
In Heaven far above,
And that I’d have to leave behind
All those I dearly love.
But when I walked through Heaven’s gate,
And felt so much at home;
As God looked down and smiled at me,
From His beautiful golden throne,
He said, “This is eternity,
And now we welcome you,
Today your life on earth is past,
But here it starts anew.
I promise no tomorrow,
But today will always last;
For you see, each day’s the same day,
There’s no longing for the past.
Now you have been so faithful,
So trusting, loyal and true;
Though there were times you did things,
                                           You knew you shouldn’t do.     (not my Sadi My Lady)
                                                             But good dogs are forgiven,
                                                            And now at last you’re free;
                                                          So won’t you sit here by my side
                                                           And wait right here with me?”
So when tomorrow starts without me,
                                                            Don’t think we’re far apart.
                                                         For every time you think of me,
                                                           I’m right there in your heart.

Critical

Dear Members and Friends:

The reason of why I am witting to you is because HPR rescue is in desperate need of funding.
Our funds have never been so low and our rescue is in jeopardy, as of today there is ONLY $900.00 on HPR"s bank account, it is needless to say that the situation is critical.
HPR presently cares for 70 cats, most of these animals are special needs, we have 1 legged, FIV's, FELV's, seniors cats, cats with behavior problems, many considred un-adoptable and yes we have normal kitties too.
Many animals come to us very badly injured, we nurse them back to health until they fully recover, but with each of them also come exorbitant veterinary bills.
The animals in our rescue if they do not get adopted they live out there lives with us as we do not kill and ONLY kill is the life of that animals is compromised, meaning if the animal is suffering.
With the downfall in the economy people just stop donating and adoptions have been dead.
Regardless of the economy and dead adoptions we still need to provide food, litter every day and medical care for these animals when needed.
Without funding we cannot provide and our rescue will be force to shut down.
We do not want this to happen, we were almost there a year ago and YOU, ALL OF YOU got us through it and came through for the animals.
We need your support once again, we just cannot do this alone.
HPR doesn't receive any help from the government, the only means of proving day to day care for these animals is through donations from generous people like you.
CAN YOU HELP?

Dear friend,
There are just 48 hours left to take advantage of a generous opportunity to double the value of your contribution to help prevent another oil disaster off our Gulf Coast shores.
British Petroleum's colossal oil gusher is a stunning example of what can happen when government agencies get too cozy with the industries they are supposed to regulate.
And while bureaucrats and industry heads can attempt to deflect blame and duck public outrage, none of them can avoid the swift legal challenges that our team in the Gulf region is bringing.
With your support, the Earthjustice team in the Gulf will continue to press forward with an aggressive legal defense of the region, including...
  • challenging the Minerals Management Service's illegal exemption of BP and other oil companies from critical safety and environmental requirements
  • suing to block other deepwater Gulf of Mexico exploratory drilling plans that have already been approved using the illegal exemptions
  • opposing the approval of BP's flawed and completely inadequate oil spill clean-up plan which allowed the company to conduct drilling in the Gulf
  • forcing an examination of the environmental hazards associated with the unprecedented, widespread use of toxic chemical dispersants
  • defending a temporary time-out on the drilling of new deepwater wells in the Gulf to allow for the implementation of safety and environmental protection measures
We can't turn back the clock on this disaster—but our legal challenges can make darned sure that the conditions that led to it are never allowed again.
Together, we can turn the tide on irresponsible oil development in the Gulf and protect our nation's shorelines and the wildlife and communities that call them home.
Thank you for all that you do.

We are leaving the shelter. This kitty is a HE and he reminds me of a Brown Derby...I know I am dating myself! Anyway we are going to call him Derby, at least while we have him. Thanks for the opportunity to serve in some small way. It gives us warm fuzzies. A&K

Subject: [barcfosters] Feline Lukemia positive gorgeous Siamese

One of the kennel attendants called and said that A1029005 tested positive for feline leukemia. I saw the cat at BARC this morning. It is about 3 months old, long hair with Siamese markings. the cat is very friendly, clean and is really beautiful with big blue eyes. He/she needs out. I am assuming that it will be put down today if no one can take him.
