Chicago IL: Adopt Quinn and Griffin the Poochons

July 31, 2010

Dear Friends of Petraits,

Quinn and Griffin (Petraits attached) are a pair of extremely friendly, wiggly, happy, sweet, affectionate, playful, and loving, 18-month-old, Poodle/Bichon-mix looking for a new home.

This brother/sister pair lived with four different family members before they were given up. They were obviously loved because the dogs love people, are full of kisses, and they were taught the command sit and take treats gently. The children in the family even painted their toenails,

Quinn is 13 pounds, and Griffin is 16 pounds. They are housetrained and crate-trained, good in the car, and love to play fetch.

They are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, heartworm-tested, and micro-chipped. To meet and possibly adopt them as a pair, please contact their foster mom Sue at sn_personaltraining@comcast.net
or 773-419-2772. Their adoption fee of $475 as a pair benefits the Trio Animal Foundation who is sponsoring this duo. To read more about the foundation and hopefully make a donation in Quinn and Griffin’s honor, please visit http://www.trioanimalfoundation.org/

Gulf of Mexico: Oil disaster increases pet crisis

Let's hope some good things happen and animals do find new homes. St John the Baptist shelter manager Linda Allen is quoted in article in US Magazine.
Pam Anderson to Save Dogs Affected by Oil Spill
Pam Anderson is doing her part to aid victims of the oil spill.

The DWTS alum, 43, will attend a Comedy Central roast of her Baywatch co-star David Hasselhoff in L.A. this Sunday -- but then she's skipping the afterparty to fly overnight to New Orleans and help evacuate dogs with PETA.

"There are far more dogs than homes everywhere, but the crisis in Louisiana is prompting people to open their hearts and doors to animals in trouble," Anderson tells UsMagazine.com in a statement.

Anderson, the honorary director of PETA, personally paid local adoption, spay-and-neuter and flea treatment costs to relocate the pooches to Virginia, where PETA is based.

The Humane Society of Louisiana reached out to PETA to help save the dogs. They'll partnership up with the Virginia Beach SPCA to hold an emergency adopt-a-thon to place them. American Airlines and South West Airlines flew in PETA volunteers free of charge.
Says Linda Allen, the manager at the St. John the Baptist Parish Animal Shelter, "The oil catastrophe has made things worse for many animals, but our shelter, like shelters everywhere, is always full and will be until people spay and neuter."
Urges Anderson, "The real key to both the local and national homeless animal crisis is to spay and neuter dogs and cats and to always adopt—never buy from pet shops," says Anderson.

Los Angeles CA (San Pedro---Harbor Shelter): Eddie is a Jack Russell/Parson Russell Terrier IN DANGER

NEW HOPE "Eddie" AT HARBOR SHELTER, SAN PEDRO, CA
Eddie came to the shelter with a fractured hip/pelvis.  He has now recovered, with only a very slight limp, which doesn't slow him down.  He has been in the medical unit for much of his stay at the shelter, so no chance of being adopted by the public.  Now his time is running out!!!!  Despite his very painful injury, he's been a fantastic, happy, friendly, laughing dog, (friendly with other dogs and people) whose life is in DANGER as he is now on the New Hope list!!!!  Please don't let them extinguish such "joie de vivre!!!"

I don't know how much time he has, but he is a lovely dog, who would be easily adoptable for a rescue!  Could anyone SAVE this lovely boy, please, ASAP, before it's too late for this happy little guy?????

He's at Harbor Shelter, 957 North Gaffey Street, San Pedro, CA 90731 - Telephone 310-548-2632.

Jersey City, NJ: Adopt Ivan the amazing Tabby

Permission to Cross Post

Ivan came into the Liberty Humane Society about a month ago badly injured after being hit by a car. His front leg was so mangled it had to be amputated. After enduring the painful treatment, surgery and recovery, he's now ready for a loving home. He's a really handsome male tabby, about 2 years old and truly has a heart of gold!

This big lug is such a wonderful kitty who wants nothing more than to cuddle and give head butts. Please help us get him out of here, he'll make some lucky person an amazing companion.

Ivan is neutered, micro chipped, up to date on vaccinations, FELV- and FIV+.

Chicago IL: Adopt Tiny Raisin the Tortie Kitten

July 27, 2010

Dear Friends of Petraits,

Raisin (Petraits attached) is a gentle, sweet and loving, tiny, nine-week-old, two-pound, female Tortoiseshell kitten looking for a loving home.

When a woman was evicted from her apartment, she left 19 cats behind … Raisin was one of them. She deserves to find a home with fewer cats and a loving family to care for her.

Raisin LOVES other cats and loves to play and snuggle with them.

Raisin is healthy, spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines, virus-tested, and de-wormed. Her adoption fee of $65 benefits the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control Rescue Group. To meet and possibly adopt Raisin, please contact her foster mom Charlie at cpropsom@sbcglobal.net or 312-203-7950.
