Pretty

Hello everyone;

Precious
Brandy
I’m sorry to have to bother all of you again, but the three Big Black Lab mixes that Marjorie Banks has had since they were 8 weeks old (they were all littermates) are in need of rescue now!  Her next door neighbor Jimmy, who has been taking care of them since Marjorie passed away, called me today to let me know that he will be starting to work out of town in just a little over a week or two.  Also, the power and the water to her home will be cut off very soon, and there will be no way to keep these dogs warm.

Precious
They have pretty much always been outside dogs (as they love being outside), but Marjorie had things set up for them with an outside building with dog
houses inside of this building, and with some heat in the winter, and some air running in the summer into this building.  If they cannot find a rescue to take them very soon, they will be without any heat, and without anyone to feed and water them everyday.  Then Jimmy will have no choice but to take them to a shelter if that happens.
Brandy

Can anyone please help?  These dogs are almost 11 years old now, but are in good shape for their age, and are UTD on HW meds., and also on vacs.

*If you can help, please contact me, and I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can.  Just so you are aware, I am not online very often anymore, after 9:00 p.m.  But, I will get back with you in the morning!

Thanks very much everyone,

Katie

Mission Viejo CA: Updated. Sweet Chaya in rescue, gaining weight. RE: SKELETAL mutt A4232912 at Carson

Skeleton Dog Chaya Update

Just last week, I bailed Chaya from the Carson animal shelter. She was barely able to walk, and you could easily see her shocking, exposed spine and ribs from across a large room. At only 37 lbs, instead of the 70+lbs she should normally be, it would have surprised nobody had skeletal Chaya died at any given moment. But after just seven days of eating home-cooked meals, de-stressing, and soaking in affection, Chaya's weight has increased by 25%!

Blythe says "Chaya is doing well. She is still being treated for her ear and skin infections. She is loving life, she snuggles with the staff, she gives kisses, and her weight has risen from 37 lbs to 46.5 in just one week. She has a ways to go, but we are thankful for all and any support to help us pay for our veterinary bills. She has passed every test with flying colors which is wonderful news. She continues to defy what in most cases is inevitable diabetes, kidney failure, liver problems, etc. Despite all her past hardship and all that we feel might appear diagnostically, she is so far, healthy. Except that she was starved. So with food in hand, and many treats, she is learning to trust in her caretakers again. "

Chaya's Firstgiving page is http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/thepet-rescuecenter/save-chaya-emaciated-stray-from-carson-shelter

Enjoy Chaya's freshest photos below, and thanks for helping Chaya and all of the OTHER animals in need!

It's amazing what a few days of peace, affection, and home cooking will do for a defeated dog's soul. Enjoy this great update and happy photos of Chaya, the skeleton dog.

"Chaya is very kissy. She has gained 3.5 lbs since Saturday, her results show no diabetes and no kidney failure! Woo Hoo!"

Many thanks and congratulations for Dr. Matt Wheaton of Alicia Pet Care Center, who provides care for the animals of PRC. If you live in or near Mission Viejo, what a great vet to have for your pets!

Chaya has a long way to go, and at least another month or two of hospital care. She is also being treated for ear infections, cuts & bruises, dehydration and other maladies beyond her severe weight loss. If you can help PRC with a tax deductible donation, please click here: Donate

To:

All,
Please circulate this far & wide.   This dog is LITERALLY skeletal from a life of starvation and neglect.   Despite that, she still wags her tail.
As a contact told me, she will likely be killed on her review day.
If any dog deserves a break, it's this one.   There is no contact for this dog.  She's at the Carson shelter, ready to die, but hoping to be saved.
I will transport locally and cover the bail.   Anyone?
Dan

Here is the info on the underweight you saw leaving the Vet. Hospital yesterday.

ID#  A4232912
Intake date: 1/19/11
Review date: 1/25/11

She is a female, the shelter put her age at 9 yo but she is actually around 5yo.
I talk to one of the workers there who said she will more then likely be put to sleep on her review date
because she is considered unadoptable.

Let me know how I can help.

1/8/11: King Tut was rescued from where he was abandoned by his owners in a foreclosed home. Once at the Menlo Park vet hospital to rest and be evaluated, Holly Still of Central California Labrador Retriever Rescue wonderfully took the reins and now has become Tut's primary contact, in addition to the veterinary staff. CCLRR will accept donations for Tut and facilitate getting his medical bills/treatment arranged.  Holly has taken new photos of Tut smiling!  Holly learned from Contra Costa Animal Control when  King Tut had his last rabies shot and that he is 12. Five - FIVE - cats in south Jersey need IMMEDIATE, EMERGENCY foster placement in the next WEEK or face euthanasia by animal control, through no fault of their own.

Noel, Jolly, Berry and Nikki are littermates and are a little over a year old. They were rescued last Christmas from the streets and all are visually impaired. The worst is Nikki - he's 80% blind. The others all have impairment in one eye, probably something genetic, but are otherwise healthy.

Bob, age 2, who also answers to Dizzy or Beso, has Cerebellar Hypoplasia. That means his cerebellum is underdeveloped which causes a loss of coordination. CH can have a varying degree of severity but the cat's health, intelligence and life expectancy are generally normal. Dizzy's case is rather mild - he bobs like a bobble head but he can get around. He is extremely sweet and loving. image 2171342073-2

they need foster placement NOW. Bob, Noel and Nikki are altered. Berry and Jolly are not spayed yet but we can provide that before they go to adoptive homes. PLEASE consider saving their lives!!!! If you'd like to foster these special cats - or foster at all for a no-kill rescue - please reply to this ad. We will get back to you within a few hours. We are URGENTLY trying to find homes.

Long Island, NY: Adopt FeLV+ Skeeter and Delaney Furry Angels Who Can't Catch a Break

Long Island, NY
Skeeter
LI-NY-2 Furry Angels Can't Catch a Break...Positive and want an Indoor Home!!!!
Say hello to Skeeter & Delaney (2 beautiful kitties) - Both so sweet but they have not had an easy go of it....These 2 angels lost their home when they were dumped on the street to fend for themselves, no home and no where to go because they were replaced by a new kitten. But these brave souls stuck together through it all....

Delaney
They've been treated like throwaway garbage...but they're survivors and have come through it all...sweet, precious kitties, loving buddies who desperately need and would love an Indoor Only Home, Together....
We named the orange boy SKEETER 'cause he's a rough and tumble kind of guy who has an outgoing, friendly personality. His companion is a sweet faced boy named DELANEY. He has a quieter personality and stays close to Skeeter for support. They need a loving, safe place where they can doze in the sun and where they'll be protected.
Both boys have been neutered, are up-to-date on vaccines, and have tested positive for feline leukemia. Transport available. If you can help them contact: jrothstein1@msn.com
From the bottom of our hearts we thank you...

Bay City TX: Rescue or Adopt Mono the Chihuahua---His "pretty" years were spent tied out and abused!

His "pretty" years were spent tied out and abused! (Chi man in Bay City, near Houston)
Importance: High

Mono’s story is beyond touching.  Please read below.  This little old Chihuahua man longs for a good person of his own, someone to take care of for the rest of his days.  Someone to show him what real love is.

He loves people and he wants his own person to love and cherish.

*If you can help Mono, please contact Mick or Janet at: mwhite@cityofbaycity.org   (at  cityofbaycity.org), or: janetpic@att.net  (at   att.net).

Same story, second verse:  Yesterday I told you the story of Snowflake, the PomxPoodle who had been tied on a short lead unable to escape his excrement, the same as the others who came from the residence.  Snowflake (the Pom mix) and the 4 poodles he came in with have all been placed.

That leaves one dog.  His name is Mono (pronounced Moe - No).  It's a Spanish word for 'doll' or 'toy'.

It's difficult to have much hope for him.  He's an older dog.  And he's not beautiful.

Mono
If you'll look closely at the attached photos you will notice his wrinkled and hairless neck.  Most of the dogs he came in with were wearing harnesses, too tight, had to be cut off.  Mono didn't have a harness - he had a piece of twine tied around his neck.  Apparently it had been there for years.  We had a bit of a time cutting it off.  The fleas were incredible.  You could see them working in and out of his thin coat.  And we've had cold weather recently.  Not much fur to buffer the weather.  All the dogs were so thirsty when they came in.  And hungry.

We've been surprised by Mono's rapid recovery.  He still has a bony backbone sticking out - but his ribs don't show as much as they did, and it has only been five days.  But five days is a long time to make the shift at a high kill impound.  And especially if you're an old, bony dog who has spent its days tied up outside with a piece of twine.

I wish you could see his face light up and his little body wiggle when he sees the animal control officer (shown in second photo) who got him out of his situation.  It's a heartbreaker.

I can't be the only person who has a soft spot for the ones who've never had a chance.  And the older ones.   He still has years of life in him, if he can get out of here.  I hope someone can help.  He's a sweet boy.

*If you can help Mono, please contact Mick or Janet at: mwhite@cityofbaycity.org

Friday I had an emergency call from a hospital that they have a patient who is critically ill.  Wednesday she had gone for a doctor’s appointment because she wasn’t feeling well.  She needed to be rushed to the hospital immediately but did not want to go because her two collies were at home.  She was failing fast and would have died had she not gone to the hospital.  She was immediately put on a respirator due to liver failure.  When the hospital staff was going through her purse to find out who to contact they found a card that read:  SHOULD SOMETHING HAPPEN TO ME PLEASE CALL COLLLIE RESCUE TO TAKE CARE OF MY COLLIES AND CONTACT MY ATTORNEY with the phone numbers.  The doctor’s office, the hospital, the neighbor, the attorney and I all talked.  Gray was immediately on the road, picking up the keys at the hospital and meeting the neighbor and bringing the collies that had been in the house for two days.  Had it not been for that card they could have been in the house for days until Pennie hopefully comes home.  It is because a lot of people cared these two senior citizens are sleeping in my bedroom and had a fine dinner.  This lady adopted collies in 2002 and 2005.  She has never missed a reunion until this year and let’s all please keep her in your prayers tonight.  When she wakes up I want her to know the collies are safe.
She cared enough about her dogs to put a simple card in her purse that saved their lives.  DO YOU CARE THAT MUCH ABOUT YOUR DOGS?  Provide for them in you will, put a note on the refrigerator, a card in your purse or wallet to let someone know who to contact in the event of an emergency situation.  It is just that simple to make sure they are safe.  Let’s all please take a minute to put that card in our purse or wallet right now.

After spending time with our volunteer trainer today, it was determined that Mini is a submissive girl who consistently checks in with handler, "asking permission" for food, treats, etc.  She is dog selective but not dog aggressive, meaning, she would growl at some dogs but with a slight verbal reprimand, would quickly focus back on handler (and very apologetic for her growl).  Upon approach to dog, she tolerated quite a bit of interaction with no aggression.
She tolerates all handling and is truly a wonderful, wonderful dog.  This large girl originally came in with "junkyard" grime and a large chain.   Her large statue is the only intimidating thing about her!

6 yr old Cane Corse at animal control facility in Jersey City, NJ
See original post.  Still no takers.  Please forward to any Cane Corso or Mastiff rescues!!

Hello All!
I hope the new year is treating you well, and that you may be able to help poor Mini.  At 118 lb., this senior Cane Corso (we named Mini) was found in a junkyard by Jersey City Animal Control.  She is as sweet as could be, and larger than life!  Mini is roughly 6 years old, which unfortunately means she could have to wait in our shelter for a very long time before a potential adopter arrives.  We are a city shelter, and most people who adopt from us live in urban apartments, and cannot accommodate such a large dog.  I would hate to see such a loving girl sit in our tiny shelter for months, as she deserves to live out her years with a loving family.  If you are able to take her into your rescue, could you please contact me ASAP????    I can be reached any time on my cell phone at: 617-331-0453.  Thank you!

Sincerely,

I am now working to find rescue for Trixie and Shasta. They are sisters who have been at the shelter in Laurinburg, NC since September and unfortunately their time has run out. They will be killed on Friday. They are both HW- and spay and up to date on all their vaccines. They are approx 1 yrs. old. Trixie is 31 lbs and Shasta is 38.  PLEASE help me crosspost this so we can get them into the safety of a rescue group!!!  I am the contact for this shelter.
