Let's  get these pups in front of all the rescues as many do not know about this shelter and may pull them if they see the pics!  (let's give save our strays a rest as they have already pulled hundreds from here.) Hate to pick and choose what dogs to network--but these pups are highly adoptable with best chance for rescue--so trying to focus on these little ones.  Clear date is kill date/time.  Chocolate lab mix is today at 11:54, the others friday.  If you are feeling emotionally brave, you can check out all the other cute dogs and cats at www.fortbendcountypets.com.    Shelter # to place a hold is 281 342-1512

FYI…Lab Rescue Network is already pulling the female black lab puppies on the website--which is why those pups are not listed below.

Garland TX: GOOD NEWS!!! RE: Blind! Reposting! Urgent! Rescue only. Arthritic A147891 Chow mix female

Whisper

3/31/11. Here is the update from Garnell:
From: Garnell
Sent: Wednesday, March 30, 2011 7:39 PM
Subject: SENIOR CHOW GIRL IN GARLAND
Okay – Here’s the latest on the old Chow gal from Garland. Anne and I have named her Whisper, because she is a very gentle and quiet soul.  I talked with Jay about it and he’s agreed to just let me keep her. I can do that as long as I can get some financial donations to help with her vetting. VERY sad scene at the shelter. The ACO, Adrian, carried her out to Anne’s car and she was too weak to even hold her head up. It just hung down as if she were dead. She wants to stand and walk, but isn’t able to do it for long without stumbling. The 2 steps I have for her to potty outside are a real event for her. She is sleeping comfortably in her crate right now, and I have the door open so she can come out if she wishes. She’s crated in my home office where I can keep a close eye on her at all times. She loves to be petted, but her skin is VERY oily, and smelly, so probably demodex mange. Can’t be sure though until vet visit. Her eyesight is minimal, and she is deaf. She has labored breathing which may be a result of severe heartworms, but I can’t be sure until Blood work is done. She can only take a few steps without almost falling, and stumbling to the side. VERY wobbly. She throws up bile looking vomit after walking a short distance. Peeing and Pooping good, though pee is a little dark colored. Ate some canned food this evening, but threw up undigested food from the shelter this afternoon. I have her on mild pain pills to help with her discomfort until I can get her to the vet. Anne gave her a little doggy biscuit, and she immediately put it in her paws, and licked it. Then she buried it in her mound of blankets. It was very cute. Like she was so happy to have something of her own, and have blankets to cover it with.

Please spread the word on any possible donations. I will not be able to foster her here and will need to send her to Jay’s if I have to cover the vet bills myself, and I hate to ask for help, but don’t have a choice at this time. With Angel the sick pit bull, and Zeppelin, the senior Chow, and now Whisper, I am maxed out and more. My paypal account is same as my email – gmcmichael@verizon.net

I am going to try and get her to the vet tomorrow, or Friday. I’ll have them do blood work, and look at the cyst on her front leg. (See pics) I’ll have them do skin scrapings for mange, a fecal, HW test and anything else the vet needs to assess her condition. I’ll keep everyone updated on her condition, and will try to do weekly updates at first.

Thanks to all of you that offered transport, bathing, boarding, moral support, well wishes and prayers, and everything for Whisper. She is a special girl and didn’t deserve to die on a cold hard floor in the shelter. And let’s all keep in mind that this girl would be DEAD RIGHT NOW if Jay & Ricky at Smiling Dog Farms had not allowed me to pull her under their rescue. They help so many, and please keep them in mind for donations, or become a monthly donor. You can find that info at www.smilingdogfarms.com.

There are a couple of people that have expressed interest in possible future adoption but they are up North, and Whisper cannot travel right now. She would never hold up for a trip like that. So, if all goes well, and we can get her back on her feet, we will look at those options in the future.

Thank You!

Thank you, everyone, for working so hard to help this old gal get to safety.
She has been picked up from the shelter and is in no danger of being euthed.
She is going to spend some time in her temporary foster
to evaluate whether she is well enough to transport.
We have a good friend who had offered to put her up in boarding overnight,
and then even drive her tomorrow to Centerville!
And many more of you have offered to drive her on different days.
I promise to keep all of you informed about this girl.
Once the decision is made about her viability to travel,
we will ask you again for help on transport.
The most important thing is that she is safe...
Thank you all for your kind offers to help.
I will be back in touch about transport, when we know more.

3/30/11: Ernie and Bailey went to a great foster program. They are available for adoption in the San Diego County area only. Contact Tyler to inquire.
The black puppy is a girl. The brown one is a boy who has potential for therapy training so that is the type of permanent situation that is being sought for him.

I rescued two pups from South LA to help another rescuer out---they are both about 3 mos old and littermates. I got them about 2-3 wks ago and they didnt have shots or anything--I have given them there first shot and will take them in this wk for their 2nd boosters, both have had fecals and dewormed.

I injured my back two wks ago again and can not physically take care of them any longer. I was also been advised by my job, at the end of last week that my dept will soon be transferred out of state & I need to make a decision by May 6th if I will transfer or not.... I have 4 pit bulls ( adults ) of my own I am trying to take care of.

If anyone can please help me out and get these babies into a home/another rescue I would appreciate it..

One is male--red/golden brindle and one is female white/black--both are very sweet, being well socialized and do great with my dogs.
The little boy has an incredible disposition and if someone took the time to train him he would be great for CGC training or therapy---you can just tell by his temp and disposition...the little girl is sweet too, both are very smart, alert, attentive and not excessive puppy energy...they are really great puppies....

Richmond TX: Lucy the Blue Tick Hound is gorgeous, great with other dogs, has had a rough life

Date: Mon, 28 Mar 2011 14:48:58 EDT

 Lucy Blue Tick - Gorgeous

If anyone is interested, please contact me at tereje@aol.com and I will give you the son's e-mail...  Thanks.

Please cross-post.  I was having difficulty getting her story, age, etc.  What we need is someone that would be willing to give her a life in her older age....  age is unknown, guessing about 8. She does have hw and does have Ehrlichiosis, but he is checking into getting her antibiotics.

Lucy is great with other dogs.  She is shy, timid, can be skittish, but never aggressive.  You can put your hands in her bowl while she eats.

This is from the son.....

She was found in a small town in kentucky where my dad lived for awhile. The animal control people chased her for almost 2 years before actually catching her. A guy from animal control knew of the owner, and heard that he bred blue ticks for hunting and had a dog that wouldn't hunt and he was abusive toward because of this reason. She got away somehow, animal control got her, and the day before she was euthanized he rescued her.
He had her for 5 years before moving down here last may. His living here didn't work out like we thought, and he moved back to Kentucky. When he moved back, his apartment wouldn't allow animals, so he left Lucy.

I AM REALLY OVERWHELMED RIGHT NOW and CARSON SHELTER KEEPS CALLING ME ON THESE BABIES – I CAN NOT TAKE ANY MORE ON BY MYSELF – PLEASE READ ABOUT THESE TWO AND LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN HELP!!!!!  I CAN PULL AND COLLECT DONATIONS FOR THEM BUT WHAT I REALLY NEED IS FOSTERS!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

I WANT TO CRAWL IN A HOLE. THESE TWO CATS WILL BE EUTHANIZED TOMORROW EOD IF NO ONE CAN TAKE L

NEED OUT FRIDAY BY 5PM!!!!!!!!!!!! NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!!!!!!

A4247503  "Black Jack" is a Volunteer and Shelter Favorite!!!!!  She came in on March 4th, turned in by her owner because she was too old??? They said she was 4 years old and the RVT at the shelter says between 4-5.    She is black with little tufts of white hair on the chest area. Longhair.  Both eyes are clouded over with Lens Luxation meaning that the lens is not in the right position, but the RVT says the cat can see just not with clear vision.  Black Jack is such a doll and a Sweet Kitty and LOVES to be carried. DONATIONS NEEDED FOR SURE FOR EYE EXAM - $300 including eye exam, pull fee and basic vetting.
A4247503.jpg

A4247757  "Tonio" is an 11yr old orange/white declawed  front paws, turned in because her owners were moving on March 4th.  Honestly, this kitty is really not happy,  Grrrrs and Hisses BUT I can say that the last few older declaws I have gotten from the shelter have all been very unhappy in the shelter and in a cage and once they are in foster home and have time to decompress, they are loving and sweet- I have videos to prove it of before and after but can’t upload than at this time L  These cats are so stressed out after being dumped following years and years of a home and then in a scary shelter in a cage.  It is so traumatizing, especially for the older ones L    Tonio even escaped from his cage at the shelter and was loose in the cat building for a few days but they unfortunately caught him and put him back LL  He will for sure die tomorrow 5pm if no one can give him a chance.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhdgRmz8VZk Mike is a big boy!  I believe he is a great dane mix.  He was found wondering in and out of traffic scavaging for food. He is pretty thin but otherwise appears healthy.  He is around 1-2yrs old at the most. He is very sweet, social and outgoing.
