Did I mention we are completely full? Please can anyone help this family THIS WEEKEND????
"Meet Rilo! He's such a sweetie! He's current on all his vaccines, low heartworm positive, and is neutered. He's good with other dogs and cats, and looking for his forever home! If you are interested in adopting Rilo, e-mail us at animalcareservices@greenvillecounty.org"
Please cross-post for abuse victim! - GREENVILLE, SC - Rilo the Underdog has been beaten daily his whole life - Doesn't know he is special - Dies Monday!! L
I am writing to you about a very special Pittie boy named Rilo, who has no idea just how wonderful he is.
This is because for the entirety of Rilo's 2 years of life, he has endured countless beatings at the hands of his monstrous owner. This is not speculation. When poor Rilo was dragged into the shelter to be surrendered, head hanging low and defeated, his owner informed the shelter that he was fed up with Rilo who kept escaping the fence. This moronic SOB stated that he attempted to teach Rilo to stay in the fence by beating him, but the dog "wouldn't listen" and "kept escaping".
Gee, I wonder why this poor, poor animal would be trying with all his might to get away from a man who would beat the tar out of him regularly?????? Is this guy KIDDING me, or are people really this stupid? ARRRGHHH!!!!
Now Rilo is sitting in a dark cement cell depressed, but grateful, I'm sure, not to have his body physically racked with pain each day and night. The problem is that Rilo is completely out of time at the Greenville Shelter and can be put to sleep at any time. What a horrific waste of a sweet soul this will be. Rilo is an awesome dog IN SPITE OF his awful former owner, certainly NOT because of him.
Rilo has passed all temperament tests with flying colors. He is kind to other dogs and very submissive. He winces sometimes when you go to touch him, but when he discovers that your touch is gentle, he lifts his sweet face and a twinkle of life and happiness flashes across his eyes. There is a special soul living inside his beaten body. Won't someone please nurture it and help him blossom even more? He REALLY deserves a break, poor boy.
This is my UNDERDOG PICK OF THE WEEK and I am begging one of my terrific rescue contacts out there to save Rilo before Monday. His life has been so atrocious.....one nightmare day after the next. I'd say it's time we all band together and change his luck, wouldn't you?
HEALTH: appears healthy, is low heartworm positive
TEMPERAMENT: friendly, passed all temp tests
ADDITIONAL INFO: owner surrender -"escapes" - I did the intake on this dog and the owner stated that Rilo would not stay in the fence, and that every time he got out, he would beat him, and Rilo would just get out again.

I can't believe those people can't tell the difference between a Pit Bull and a Chocolate Lab. Jeez. Please help this pretty girl. She looks like she has stunning eye color. Please don't let her die. Her time is up and she is owner surrender, so they will put her down at any time. As you all know, Garland is a high kill shelter, so please hurry if this girl is to be saved.
This girl is living on borrowed time. Owner surrenders have been going down fast.

Hi Liz,
I got your name from Kristine Kelly and was wondering if you could help network a stray dog that I found. He has been at the Pasadena Humane Society since April 7th. I am offering to pay the adoption fee and $300 to any rescue able to take him and find a loving home. I do not have the ability to bring him home myself and do not know what else to do and am hoping this will help with food costs. The shelter has called to say his time is up, but graciously allowed me to extend the date, but I am not sure how long this will be.
At the suggestion of a rescue, I went to visit him and took pictures (attached) and video:
He just seems like a very happy dog with his tail wagging constantly. He was chasing toys and would come up to say hi by licking my hands. He even sat for treats! Some things the shelter staff told me:
-he passed the food test and is not food aggressive
-he passed the touch test and does not mind being touched all over his body
-he is not toy aggressive
-he did well with another dog
Is there anything you can do to help? Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Judging by his teeth and size, we think he’s about 4-5 weeks old.
He enjoys playing with and climbing over and on top of everything. He also loves rubbing his little head all over you.
He is litter-box trained.
Have yet to take him to a vet, but he appears to be in overall good health. The foster programs at the local animal shelters/rescues are currently overburdened, so they can’t take him. However, the people at the shelters say they will still take him, but because of his young age, he will most likely be euthanized… If you have lots of love and attention to give to this little guy, please consider taking him in. Even if you are willing to be a foster parent, let me know!—the HSPCA will pay for vaccinations and necessary supplies until he reaches adoptable age (in approximately 4 weeks).

We need an adopter or possibly a foster home and rescue organization might be able to help to find one. Thanks alot, Lili
Velvet is three years young, very healthy, spayed, and micro-chipped and well kept. She is extremely intelligent, affectionate, and she loves to cuddle. Siamese and American short hair breed. Velvet is slim and tall with bright yellow eyes, she has classic black cat look. She gets along with other animals, dogs and cats. Velvet is very independent and neat. If you choose to keep her indoors only she will be fine also. She loves to be outdoors some of the time during the day. Velvet is often very funny and amusing. She loves to hunt outside and play hunting games inside. Velvet is a great pet for a family who is busy during the daytime and will enjoy her company in the evening. She is vocal and makes different voice responses, almost like she is communicating with you. Velvet is very musical: responds on harmonica play with her little kitty dance. It can be also used to call her inside the house before it gets dark. She is first to jump on your lap, once you sit in your chair. In addition to all her uniqueness, Velvet is low maintenance with her litter box and she can go in the yard. If she gets her outside time in the yard, then she takes care of her potty outside and her litter box becomes easy to keep. Velvet needs a new home now because of her owner mom unavoidable circumstances. She loves to be around people, she is very well behaved and will give a lot of joy as a new family member if you open your heart and give Velvet foster or better permanent home. olilinat@gmail.com (323)377-7699

Y'all, we are NOT alright . . . many dogs are displaced and missing . . .
Possession are soooo unimportant, even underwear, who cares. But our dogs are lost under rubble. We cannot get around to many houses as the Corp of Engineers has most all of town blocked off. Few places to relocate us or THEM.
Please see the video below and help Shannon and her family. Fosters are desperately needed or rescue intake. Please help us!!!
Watch the video and the link that Smilin' Pit Bull Rescue in NY has so graciously put together for us.

These babies are out of time and need to leave shelter immediately. We only have a few runs open and just found out today we may be getting 20 plus dogs from one home this week and I was asked to get as many out as possible!
This pretty girl looks pretty darn close to PB and the puppies are newborns and all solid black. She almost had rescue but started acting aggressively with inexperienced transporter, and has also shown some aggression at shelter. I do think she is trying to guard her puppies.....
