Houston TX: Adopt/Rescue Shep/Rottie Chato before Jan 31

Subject: SAVE CHATO!!! - DEADLINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To: lydia4barc@yahoo.com
Hi, Folks!
Chato literally has until January 31, 2012 to find a good home or his current owner will be turning him in at BARC, due to home foreclosure.  Those of us who are volunteers at BARC know very well that as an owner turn-in, alone, he is likely to be put down the first day he is turned in.  Other strikes against him:  He is 5 years old, 70 lbs. and doesn't like most other dogs, nor is he socialized with cats.  He'll end up in a landfill within hours of being turned in, no matter which shelter.  Let's not let it happen to Chato!
He is a VERY loyal, affectionate dog, who is COMPLETELY housetrained and happens to also be an EXCELLENT watchdog!!!!!!!!!  He is, the PERFECT companion!!!!!!!  He is also very playful and comes EVERY time you call him!!!!!!!  He is a hunk of well-behaved love!!!!
Please work with me, to find Chato a loving home by the end of January.  You can help by forwarding this message and posting him on facebook.  You can also help by printing out his flyer and posting it at your neighborhood Starbucks or office or vet clinic (GOOD neighborhoods, only, please!)
Chato would be a blessing in any home looking for a wonderful companion.  He, does, however, most likely, need to be an only pet as he doesn't like most dogs and he is not socialized with cats.  He has lived with a dog before and he has played with another dog on occasion, so there are exceptions where he might work out with another dog.
PLEASE FORWARD and POST within the Greater Houston Area (I will be doing a home visit with potential adopters.)  There IS a DEADLINE:  January 31, 2012!!!!
Thank you!!

STANTON CA: Updates RE: 3 abandoned dogs

12/30 UPDATE

Bcc list, please cross post.  2 of the three dogs have been rescued and will be going to Santa Rosa on Monday.  They have a rescue that has found free boarding and will get them all primped for adoption.  The third dog – and coincidentally the dog that found a home but then couldn’t go due to “no pet” rules, wasn’t so lucky.

I talked to our field rep that has been feeding and watering these dogs.  He arrived at the property to do his final feeding and saw the dogs running loose and saw one was badly injured.  The men doing the trash-out were there.  The dog got hit by a car, ran back into the enclosure in pretty bad shape.  Another dog mounted him while in excruciating pain and the trash-out men were standing around taking pictures.  I will find out who these so called humans are and take appropriate action – at a minimum make sure they never do any work on vacant foreclosures again.

Our contractor immediately took the dog to the vet.  He was in bad shape, internal bleeding and the vet said he would not make it through the night.  He was humanly put to sleep…  RIP little guy…

Thank you everyone who helped save these guys.

PLEASE DO NOT POST ON CRAIGSLIST

I put a call in to the owner of the cabin to be sure she doesn't belong to anyone. Waiting to hear back. She seems like someone feeds her, but she has been on the porch allll day... :-( in not sure if she goes house to house for food or if she belongs to someone, but either way, I don't think that's fair to her to sleep outside in the cold... Baldwin CA (Los Angeles County facility): GOOD NEWS RE: Longtime resident Longhaired beauty in danger

Melanie A4365509 was rescued and is in foster care.
****************************************
12/27 POST:
http://animalcare.lacounty.gov/AdoptDetails.asp?AnimalID=A4365509

This cat came in supposedly as a stray with her friend a white cat named Bianca who has since been adopted. This cat has been given two names over time, one is Isabella and one is Melanie. She has inspired more than one photo thread on Facebook. Especially with such a poor photograph in the database, and especially as a long-time resident at a high-kill shelter, she is in great danger of being put to death soon unless someone rescues or adopts her right away.

Disclaimer: We make every effort to keep this information current. Our pages are updated in real time, which means photographs come off of our site when an animal is returned to its owner, etc.
Due to the large number of animals received each day, it is very important that you visit the shelter in person so that you can identify your missing pet. Animals come into the shelters daily, so you will need to visit the shelter as often as possible. Not all of our FOUND animals will appear on this site, i.e. too aggressive to photograph or injured animals which are at private veterinary offices for treatment.
If you find your missing pet, it is absolutely critical that you come into the shelter to claim your pet IMMEDIATELY. Please do not leave e-mail regarding your lost pet. These messages are not answered 24 hours a day.
If we find a missing pet that is wearing a license tag or identification tag, the animals photograph may not appear on this site. Any animal found by this department wearing a license or identification tag, is immediately held for the owner while we work to locate that owner. We do whatever we can to get tagged pets back to their owners. This includes telephone calls to the owner, letters, visits to the home address, etc. Many times the animal is returned to the owner by our field officers without ever entering the animal shelter. To ensure that our found animals are returned to the actual pet owner, it is important that you bring copies of adoption and/or vaccination records, photographs, etc. We always verify pet owner records as a safeguard in making sure your pet gets back to the right home.
Please keep in mind when viewing our photographs that some of the breed description information has been provided by people bringing these pets to us.

·         ….LAPD busted illegal animal vendors in LA Fashion District, Santee Alley TODAY and confiscated 13 BABY BUNNIES. This is going to be challenging. We have already placed 23 in the last couple of weeks, but this is a big load - especially for one person -- we need two volunteers before we can pull them. (310) 498-8600. PLEASE HELP. Even if we do get them, we would need the donation of goat milk, alfalfa pellets, alfalfa hay, towels, and ALBON against coccidia.
If you are another rescue, you don’t need BWF to pull them, they are already at North Central Animal shelter tonight, but we are in touch with the Animal Control Officer who will let them go through us without any hustle.  We just need to act upon it quickly.  They are freezing.

Subject: BDRA: Buddy Blind Lab in Texas

Hello,

My name is Gina and I am a volunteer with BDRA, Blind Dog Rescue Alliance.  We have been contacted by a grieving 17 year old owner who needs our help in finding a home for her blind dog.  I hope that you will be able to help her as Christmas is approaching and she is worried about her future and the future of her friend, Buddy.

Buddy is a blind Labrador retriever.  His life has been hard lately and there has been a tragedy in the family.  Buddy's owner died in November and now he is losing the daughter of his owner.  This 17 year old daughter has lost her dad, is losing her home, school, friends, and is losing her dog.  She is even leaving the United States.

As she grieves for her dad, she also is worried about Buddy.  Buddy is 7 years old.  He has been her friend since she was about 10 years old. She is leaving the US in early January 2012 and wants to find a home for him before she leaves the country.

Can you help her to have some peace of mind for Christmas?

Our Rescue, BDRA, does not have a foster home for Buddy at this time.  Is your rescue able to take him and give him somewhere to find shelter until he is able to find someone who will keep him forever?  If you are not able to take him into your rescue, will you please email me with suggestions of whom I might contact?  I sure hope to have some good news for this daughter before Christmas.  My email is

I have included information that we have gotten about Buddy.  If you need additional information, I can get that for you. If you wish to speak to the 17 year old daughter, we can give you the contact information where you can reach her.

Vet/Medical Info: Buddy saw the vet 5/11/11 and at that time he received all of his vaccinations. The Rabies was a 1 year. He was also tested for heartworm and was negative. He is not due for anything till 5/12. He is not neutered and does have cataracts and arthritis.

Owner Info: DOB 9/27/2004.

Buddy's dad passed away on November 30th 2011. Buddy is now in the care of his Dad’s 17 year old daughter, he belonged to both of them. Her aunt and uncle are taking her back to Switzerland with them so she cannot take continue to take care of Buddy.

She loves him so much and can’t bear the thought of being without him. Buddy adjusts well to new situations, recently he did so well in the vets office she had trouble telling he was blind. She could only tell when she shone a light in his eyes and they did not react. The vet said he was probably around 80% blind because of his cataracts, his arthritis in his hips is easily controlled with a medication called Previcox.

Buddy is an inside dog with the run of the house, he is housebroken and leash trained. He is good with people and children of all ages and good with dogs, cats and other small animals. He is the sweetest dog his owner has ever known. She will be leaving January 4th and desperately wants to get him homed by then.

Thanks,
Gina, Owner surrender volunteer for BDRA
