We are looking for a home for a wonderful Husky that was dropped off in our neighborhood a few months ago in northern Davidson County (Midway).  We tried for several weeks to find his owner, but were unsuccessful.  He seems to be a purebred, but we believe that due to being blind in one eye, that he was not suitable for breeding so someone dumped him in our residential neighborhood.  After not locating an owner we took him (Skipper, so named by our son) to the vet, and had him neutered, shots, and micro-chipped.

Skipper made the 4th stray dog that has made itself a home with our family.  He has fit into the family well other than being an escape artist.  This is no problem, other than the a particular neighbor that lives on the other side of our neighborhood, that has complained to DC animal control about Skipper getting out, which has landed us a warning ticket.  We have been trying to do a better job of keeping him up, but on the occasions he gets out (which can happen with kids running in and out of the house) she automatically calls animal, control rather than giving us a chance to catch him.   This happened this past Friday, and animal control told us the next time they came out that we would get a misdemeanor ticket for him being out.
After much thought, my husband and I have realized that we need to find a new home for Skipper, as we do not have the financial resources to pay fines, and put more time and energy into continual fence modification.  Skipper is one of the best dogs we have ever had and is great with kids, other dogs and an occasional chicken.  He would make a wonderful companion for someone with land or a runner as he (before we put him on lock-down).

He used to run with every jogger in our neighborhood.  He is great on a leash, and loves to ride in the car.  He is one of the happiest dogs you will ever meet.  He kind of became the neighborhood dog during the last few months, and while we have been trying to protect him from the one crabby neighbor, others from our block have been asking to take him on walks/runs, because they miss him.

Please contact us if you think your family may want to have this sweet cuddle-bug join your crew.  Trust me, he will steal your heart.  He is too good a dog to just let animal control pick him up.   Please help us find a home.
Please feel free to call me at: 336-971-7758, or email me with any questions.  I would be happy to send pictures upon request

Sincerely,

Erin Weeks
