Maximus ("Max") desperately needs a rescue!!!  He is LITERALLY ON BORROWED TIME!!!  His owner abandoned him, and Animal Control was called to pick him up!  He is sad and depressed because he has no idea why this terrible thing has happened to him!!  We were told last week that he would be euthanized by the weekend because he was showing signs of kennel cough, but his cough subsided, and we were given a little more time.  But with the shelter crowded and Max having been there the longest, he is first on "the list" and needs out NOW!!

He is in the Granville County Animal Shelter in Oxford, NC, one of the few remaining NC shelters with a carbon monoxide gassing chamberMax doesn't deserve this!!

HE HAS A TEMPORARY FOSTER OFFER FOR 2-3 WEEKS WHILE HE IS BEING VETTED AND TRANSPORT IS BEING ARRANGED AND HE HAS OVER $300 IN SPONSORSHIP FUNDS!!!

Please, please help this gorgeous, helpless boy!!  Granville County SPARE, Inc. will provide free transportation to any approved rescue partner coordinating his rescue through our group.  Transport route includes the I-95 corridor (or New Jersey Turnpike) between North Carolina and New Jersey at any exit between NC and the NY/NJ border.

He weighs 60 pounds, and is only 1-2 years old.  He gets along with other dogs in the shelter, and doesn't display aggression!  Late last week he was basically attacked by another dog out in the exercise yard, and Max didn't defend himself physically at all, even though the other dog was much smaller and he could have easily fought back.  He just removed himself from the situation, and went immediately to the shelter attendant when she called out to him.  He is strong and needs a little help with leash skills, but is otherwise a perfect gentleman!!

We have volunteers to pull, foster, coordinate vetting and transport for our rescue partners.  He has sponsorship funds to cover pulling and vet costs, with possibly even more left over to be sent to the rescue for ongoing care, since boarding is not needed, and transport is free!!

PLEASE, PLEASE HELP HIM OUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!
