Douglasville GA: PROMISING NEWS! re: Eviction! Giving up Gracie the Cat who has been his companion for 8 or 9 years!

The original rescue Pup & Cat Co. of Winder GA has agreed to help Steve and Gracie. Hopefully a temporary foster can be found by Monday and the two can be reunited when Steve gets his own place again. Thanks for crossposting. Those who would like to foster Gracie or another cat or dog, please contact http://pupandcatco.com/home/ as fosters are always in short supply compared to the pets in need.

Steve is being evicted and is totally broke. He has to stay with his brother, and his brother's wife is allergic to cats, so his cat Gracie cannot go with him. To the best of his recollection, he adopted Gracie 8-9 years ago from a Petsmart or Petco rescue located in Gwinnett County. She had been fostered by someone in Winder, he thinks.

Gracie was only about 8 weeks old at the time, and was advertised as being very shy and needing someone with patience to allow her to become comfortable. He is still looking for the rescue paperwork, but since all of his possessions are dislocated due to packing, he has not been able to find it yet -- and might not in time.

Steve said he loves this cat dearly and would do anything to keep her, but he would rather sign her over and know that he did the best thing for her.  At this point in the conversation, he began to cry, and said he would have to go compose himself and call me back.

When he called back, he said that he has put off doing anything because he just could not face it, the idea of giving up his baby girl. But move-out day is Monday (7-7), so there is now very little time to waste.

If anyone can take Gracie, or if someone from the rescue he got her from, recognizes his name from their records -- please contact him asap. (He says Gracie was the name she had when adopted, so that has not changed.)
