My rescue mission that started in March 2014 when I spotted Oreo for the first time loose on East Lancaster in Fort Worth, has come to a wonderful end today with her new life starting with her new family. All 5 animals rescued from the one home, have all been adopted. Each one has been adopted by families that passed our adoption process with flying colors (application, personal & vet check plus home visit). Each were adpopted by families with at least one stay at home or work from home parent and at least one companion animal. Lane and Miss Kitty have 2 companion animals.  The skeleton mamma cat that helped Oreo nurse her puppies as a result of her kittens all dying due to malnourished, has been adopted by my son and I. She is our only cat and she is my son's constant companion. She is living life of a cat queen. She loves her cat tree, multiple beds, and eats only the best cat food (Solid Gold). I thought everyone can use good news as often as possible, so I shared this wonderful update. :)
Hope the holidays has been great for all. Thanks for all you do all year long!

I have been trying to help this sweet young female shaggy terrier for 3 months, named Oreo. I see her running loose on East Lancaster, which is a busy scary street in a very poor part of East Fort Worth Texas. I followed her home and confronted the owners 3 months ago. They let her out loose to go to the bathroom. She has NEVER had any vaccinations except rabies. She has not been spayed. In the last year she has had 2 litters. Her second litter was born June 25, 2014. I again confronted the owners on 7/22/14 when I spotted her crossing East Lancaster. Her people said they want to get rid of her because she keeps getting pregnant. They plan to take her to the Fort Worth Animal Shelter once her puppies are 8 weeks old. This is a death sentence for any dog not vaccinated for Parvo/Distemper. They just surrendered a small brown and white dog last month to the Fort Worth shelter that had never been vaccinated after she tore up a pair of shoes. I told the people I would start networking Oreo to get her in a rescue. The family is "giving away" her puppies away to people who already want them. I would like to offer $100 to this family to surrender her puppies so they can go into a rescue with their mom. I have set up a youcare donation link for this. Her family has no car and has to get the dog food from the food bank. Oreo's coat is very very thin, she is malnourished. I took over Whole Earth Farms puppy food and puppy vitamins for her family to start giving her. This is what I know about Oreo
  • She lives with a cat and has lived with other dogs and great with both
  • She lives with kids
  • She is house trained
  • She is very social and friendly
  • She is around 16 lbs or less
  • Only vaccination is rabies
  • Not spayed
  • Not on heart worm prevention

8/1/14 POST

KITTY STILL NEEDS A FOSTER. I haven't read about the Oreo family status today 8/1. Just posting again for kitty.

Gayla has been working valiantly on this case, and even temporarily fostering the cat until a foster could be found EVEN THOUGH SHE IS ALLERGIC TO CATS. Please help Gayla help these poor dogs and cat if you can.

Update-Miss Kitty needs a foster for Dallas Cat Lady Rescue. She will need several weeks to gain weight so she will be healthy enough for vaccinations & spay. I've got her on Solid Gold dry cat food, Solid Gold Seameal and Halo wet.  She is on cloud nine and so happy to have a full tummy.
As for Oreo, her 7 puppies and the 5 yr old Pom Chi Sir Charles
I spoke to the owner today. She has been feeding the puppy food I purchased for Oreo also to her Pom. So as of this morning she used the last of the food I bought. So I used some of the donated money to buy food for Oreo and her puppies and separate food for Sir Charles. I am trying even thing I can to keep theses animals out of the shelter, I am going to waiting it out till the puppies are weaned and make a move reporting her once Oreo and the puppies are out of her house. The animal are very social and seem happy, but they are neglected to the extreme due to no food, but I have taken care of the food situation for now. Now it is a waiting game to see if I can get Oreo's puppies when I get her.  I have not set eyes on Sir Charles yet. I expect he is in poor shape due to being malnourished as well. She has been feeding them table scraps.

7/28/2014-I am still in the process of trying to get the puppies and mom to safety. I was there today and got pictures of the puppies and noticed a skeleton cat at the house. She has NO food to feed any of these animals except the puppy food I took over for Oreo & can of cat food. She also has an adult Pomeranian she adopted from FWACC.  She got 3 cans of cat food at the food bank 7/21/14 and she still had one can left. The mamma cat  just had kitten, ALL died because she was so emaciated. this is her 3rd litter that died. She has been nursing Oreo's puppies along with Oreo. She was willing to surrender the mamma cat, so I took her immediately. She needs rescue. She is super social affectionate, calm tuxedo around 5 and a petite little cat. I included pictures of her. I also included picture of the puppies. There are 7, she has already given away 2 of them to the same person who is bottle feeding. I am shocked she knows someone who bottle feeds.  The woman is contacting the people who want the puppies to see if they still want them. If they don't she will surrender them but she wants to keep one of them. I am just sick about this. This is an issues of severe neglect to the point of animal abuse. None of the animals have had any vaccinations except rabies (excluding the Pom who's only vaccinations were the ones he got at FWACC when she adopted him).  Getting the Humane Society or the city involved could easily turn into a death sentence for all animals involved. I am doing everything I can not to go ape on this woman so I can continue to work on getting the dog family to safety.

The cat is named Sophisticated, is very social, calm and affectionate-she look like she is around 6 months old but the woman says she is 5. She is very small.
