Subject: Foster/new home needed ASAP for cat

Hi,

I've been taking care of this black/white cat for about 2 weeks total since the owner abandoned it.  This cat is a little shy of people but once it knows it can trust you it's comfortable.  The cat lives on my patio and is fed twice a day.  It meets me when I come outside and comes to be petted.  It acts like it has been handled roughly or has been hit, because when I first petted the cat it ducked its head like it was bracing to be hit.  (same as a abused dog)  The cat is talkative and hasn't been aggressive towards me at all.  I have a time frame with my apartment complex to find the cat a new home as quickly as possible.  I've called several groups/organizations and no one has been willing to accept the cat since they are full.  I have an appointment with the SPCA for this Wednesday at 4:30 to turn in the cat if a home has not been found.  I'm leaving for vacation next week and won't leave the cat unattended during that time, so if anyone is willing to take the cat please let me know ASAP.  If I know the cat can go to a new home I will cancel the SPCA appointment, but if not I will need to take it so hopefully it can have a chance for a new family.

The cat has been outdoors for approx 1 year and I think it has been altered – since it hasn't had a litter and hasn't been involved in cat fights with unaltered males in the area.  The cat does keep it's distance from dogs, but has been nose to nose with my dog and it was fine.  However, my dog does not stalk or focus on the cat.  It also gets along well with female cats.  At some point, someone cared about this cat.

If you are willing to take the cat into a group or offer it a foster home please contact me by phone at 573-864-9977 and leave a message.  If anyone is able to help that would be wonderful!

Thanks!
