Social Life and Personality: According to owner she is fearful of all people, including children, and will stay hidden unless it is time to eat. She has never tried to bath the cat, brush her coat, or trim her nails before. She will not allow you to pick her up and hold her, struggling to get away and hide. She is very difficult to get into a carrier, swatting, hissing, and running away. New Family Info: She is sued to clumping litter in both a covered and uncovered box. She does play with chasing toys, will claw up furniture or drapes but has never been given a scratching post to use. She will stay hidden when at home, and is used to both wet and dry food. Intake Behavior: During intake would swat and hiss when admission counselor tried to scan and collar the cat. Was unable to do either. Did not transferred but cat walked into welcome box from original carrier without assistance. When inside new carrier would retreat to back but allowed to be pictured inside there.

09/27/14 11:00 Basic Info: Basette is a 3 year old spayed cat who has no prior injuries or medical problems. Personality and Social life: According to owner the cat is relaxed around children but does not really play. When she does she will be exuberant but not rough. She has not been around other cats or dogs before so her behavior is unknown. She is litter box trained, kept indoors only, and has a medium level of energy. Behavior: The cat has not bitten ro scratched anyone before or another animal. She is not bothered when given a bath, is afraid to have her nails clipped, and is not bothered when you brush her coat. She is afraid to be picked up and it was said she has to decide when she wants to be on you otherwise she will run away and struggle. She is not bothered being placed in a carrier. New Family Info: She is sued to clumping litter in an uncovered box. Owner tried a hooded one at first and the cat would refuse to use. once she switched to an uncovered one the cat used the box. She also does have a habit of defecating inside a bathtub instead of litter box but not always. She will play with wand toys and cat nip toys. She has never had a scratching post before and will scratch on rugs. When at home she is usually hidden but from time to time will seek out attention. She is used to wet food and will only eat dry food if it is mixed in with wet. Intake Behavior: She was fearful during intake, hiding in back of carrier. When admission counselor reached in to try and scan for a microchip the cat hissed and prepared to swat. Was unable to collar or scan the cat but did get to place in new carrier (struggled and swatted when done) and once in new carrier retreated to back.

A volunteer writes: This big tuxedo's kennel card photo makes him look pretty despondent, and he probably is right now, because he is no longer in familiar surroundings with a family who must have loved him very much. The shelter behaviorist is recommending an experienced adopter for Chance because anyone who takes him home has to understand that he is frightened and will likely hide for a while when taken into new surroundings. But his former family said that he is cuddly and sweet, so that side of him will surely emerge once he is in a safe place where he is loved. In his kennel, he allows you to pet him after speaking softly to him for a few minutes, so that cuddly kitty is still in there somewhere. He just needs a "chance" to come out!

How it Works: Adopting a Cat From The “To Be Destroyed” Album If you decide to adopt a cat that is on the “To Be Destroyed” list, you must act fast. Any cat on the list, can be destroyed the following morning. We try to post the list every night at 6PM. You then have 2 hours to call the shelter and advise of your intentions. After 8, you must either have a rescue call, and place a hold, or YOU MUST CALL THE SHELTER THE NEXT MORNING BEFORE 8AM! Do not wait because I guarantee that the shelter will not wait either. Euth's begin at 12PM. Call early!
