Honey (A177433) is a 5 year old, spayed/female, and Bear (A179954) is a neutered/male, 6 year old Rottweiler that were surrendered to the shelter by their owner. Honey appears to have allergies, but other than that, and being a little hefty, appears healthy. Honey has done great with all people so far and tested well around another dog.  Bear is very attached to Honey.  Although we think Honey would do ok away from Bear, we do not think Bear would do as well away from Honey. Bear may possibly have some allergies too, but not like Honey does. Bear has done great with people. It does take him a couple minutes to open up to you, but we have not had any issues with him. Bear although, did not test as well with another dog like Honey did. Honey, Bear and their owners used to live on 13 acres in Tennessee. The husband passed away causing the wife to have to return to working. She moved to Iredell County, but only to have people constantly harassing her animals and letting them loose when she was at work. Fearing one day something worse would happen, or they would get hit by a car she decided to turn them over. The shelter has not been taking in dogs for the last few days due to kennels being full. Due to needing to place these 2 together and Honey's allergies they are not being moved for general adoption. Space and time is running out. This is an emergency plea on these 2!!!

*** RUNNING OUT OF TIME ***
Christmas (A179592), a 4 year young, Alaskan Husky, was brought in as a stray. She was very fearful, but that is understandable for a dog coming to the shelter. After time she began to trust and open up to the staff here. Christmas was scheduled to be put down, but a staff member saw so much potential in her, which saved her life. Now Christmas is up for adoption and we are hoping someone else sees what we do in her! She seems eager to please. We do not recommend her for a home with children under 10 years old. Christmas seems to know the "sit" command and with the right home and consistent training would make an excellent addition! We have tested her with 2 dogs so far, she is ok with them, but would need to have someone experienced with knowing how to introduce dogs or that has submissive dogs. Below is her CBA 2014 Assessment that was done:

Canine Behavior Assessment done on 12/8
* Kennel Observation - At front of kennel, tail is above spine level and wag is loose, jumps up on kennel but does not stay up, barks at end of observation.
SCORE: B
* Affiliation - Active w/ soft loose body, Nervous when there are noises or interruptions, Does not make social contact, Does not come when called, Moves or stays away from assessor at or near end of leash, panting a lot.
SCORE: D
* Body Handling - Stays near. Cooperates w/ repositioning w/ minimal difficulty. Accepts collar tugs. Accepts pets. Accepts ear test. Teeth exam: head low, backs up but repositions easily, body loose. Accepts paw wiping's. Lots of panting.
SCORE: A
* Possession Guarding - No interest in toy or rawhide.
SCORE: A & A
* Food guarding - Minimal interest. Watches us while eating, but not aggressive, seems very stressed. Slide bowl away from dog & she walks away. Unable to do any other testing during food.
SCORE: A
* Dog introduction - Popping motions. Pulls toward helper dog but greeting is with soft body. Head is high, tail & ears erect, but body is not stiff.
SCORE: C

*** RUNNING OUT OF TIME ***
Tipper (A179950), a 1 1/2 year young, Beagle was picked up as a stray and never claimed by an owner. This girl doesn't seem to have had too much social contact in her life. She is a very nervous girl. We recommend a very calm, quiet and patient home for her. A home with no children would be ideal with Tipper. This sweet girl has so much potential in being a wonderful pet, but she really needs to build up some confidence! Tipper seems to be fine around other dogs. Her personality opens up a little more when she is outside. Being a shy, nervous girl and being a beagle it is recommended that she not be outside unless in a fenced in yard or on a leash. Due to the difficulties the shelter has re homing timid dogs we are reaching out to Rescue Groups for help! Tipper is full grown and weighs in at 19 lbs. We really think in a foster home would do this girl a lot of good where she can learn what it is like to be an adored pet and a part of the family!

**** MUST GO TOGETHER ****
Ginger (A134799), a 3 year young Shiba Inu mix, was adopted from the shelter a couple years ago. Her owner has fell on hard times, and has had to return her and her brother, Jack.  Ginger is a high energy girl, and so is her brother.  They need to be adopted together.  We know this will be a more difficult task to adopt out 2 dogs that are active, but they do not do well apart.... especially Jack, he is very attached to Ginger.  Ginger is full grown at 47 lbs, and would love a large fenced in yard to play in, but still wants to be a part of the family inside the home!  Due to the difficulties of adopting a pair out we are also reaching out to Rescue Groups.  Ginger is full grown and weighs 47 lbs. At the shelter we would love to keep every adoptable animal until we can find them a home, but space prevents us from being able to do that.
Intake date: 12/05/14
Needs to be CLAIMED and OUT OF THE SHELTER by 5pm on: 12/29/14 or could be put to sleep.
Rescue pull fee's:
$45 - Rabies vaccine (3 year), DHPP vaccine, bordetella vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dewormed, spayed, microchiped, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE)
General adoption fee:
$80 - Rabies vaccine (3 year), DHPP vaccine, bordetella vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dewormed, spayed, micro-chipped, heartworm tested (NEGATIVE).

Jack (A134618), a 3 year young, Border Collie, was returned to the shelter, along with his sister, Ginger, when their owner fell on hard times. Jack is an active boy who has a hard time being away from Ginger! We are looking for a home that can take both Jack and his sister! We know that it will be a little harder to find these too high energy dogs a home, but we know someone out there is ready for the task! A home with a large fenced in yard would be ideal for Jack. Although he has lots of energy he wouldn't mind having some down time in the home as well! At 58 lbs Jack is full grown and ready to have a family to love him as much as he loves to play! As much as we would like to hang onto this pair for as long as it takes to place them we cannot do that due to space. We are reaching out to Rescue Groups to see if they can help us!
