3/2 My boy is home safe!!! Gone 3 wks as of yesterday! After wonderful Michelle with her little tracking dog Epic went with me
last Wed. in the snow to find Walker, we were so fortunate in that he stayed in the same neighborhood from that point on. I’ve told all those people he needs a home and since he seems to really like that neighborhood, maybe someone will come through! I baited the trap every day with KFC since Mr. Picky didn’t like the hotdogs I had at first! But, he never fell for it. A cute kitty had 2 great feasts, tho! A neighbor right across from the trap offered their fenced back yard so my husband rigged up a rope the people could pull to close the gate behind him if he came into the yard. I left a trail of chicken, set up a nice bed for him and left a nice pile of chicken next to it. It worked! He went in Sunday evening so over we went. The people have a beautifully landscaped back yard but it also gave Walker many places to run in and out of and even with the 4 of us, there was no catching him.. Called animal control and they finally called back at 11:00 Sun. night so we went back over. But, still no luck. I went over this a.m. with cheeseburgers and wet dog food. After sitting there for hours, he was coming closer to me but it was obvious I was not going to catch him. The vet prescribed some meds for him to make him groggy and a wonderful rescue friend brought them over so I could get him but they didn’t seem to faze him!! My husband came after work and with the same rope he rigged the gate with, he made a large noose, hung it over a branch and the 2nd time he caught him!! Walker basically just sat down. I went over to put the heavy slip lead on him, petted him, and then Ed, my husband, picked him up and we took him to the Jeep. The people who live in the house where he was got to meet him and pet him. He didn’t growl once…such a sweet beautiful boy. He is thinner but seems to be in great shape!! He is back on his favorite bed tonight and had chicken & rice for dinner…I can’t tell you how happy I am to have this baby back or how much I appreciate everything everyone did to help!! The neighborhood was so awesome!! They called, emailed, texted me at all hours to let me know he was still around, kept an eye on the trap, and most of all, they really cared about him!! So happy to send this happy ending!! We are all exhausted but will sleep well tonight!!!

2/25 I got a call today from a girl that lives in The Meadows of Mint Hill neighborhood saying she had seen Walker! So, headed over there with Michelle and her little tracking dog around 6:00. I saw him 4 times!! Almost everyone in the neighborhood had seen him and he’s been hanging out there for several days. Of course, he won’t go to anyone and I feel sure it surprised him to hear my voice. He was bedding down under peoples’ decks and under some huge shrubs/Leland pines. He actually came back out to watch as we were walking away. We set the trap, covered it & baited it then sat in the car and watched for another 45 mins. Didn’t see him again but at least I know he is safe and he looked gorgeous!! The neighborhood knows not to try to catch him and to just notify me. I asked them to throw out some food to try to keep him in the area until I can get there. It’s only 3 miles from my house!

Hope I have good news tomorrow!!

2/23 Other than one sighting by a neighbor Thurs. night 2/12, no one has seen this sweet boy…tracking dog indicated this past Fri. he had been in large field at Hwy. 51/Well Rd. but is approx. 95 acres…..hoping he will show himself somewhere….I feel like he may be heading down through woods along Lawyer’s Rd. – there is plenty of water, woods for cover, and I’m sure he’s looking for food…

I have put up additional signs, put out food in areas where tracking dog indicated and in a trail back toward my house…I have a trap if I can figure out where to set it up. Please keep your eyes out for him!! He is very smart but very shy of people and won’t come to you. If he could be corralled into a fenced area or bldg., that would be great. He is very sweet – fine with other dogs, won’t hurt kitties or people. He is posted on FB, Lost/Found Pets in Meck. Co. & Union Co., on Craig’s List & on nextdoor.com.

Pls keep sharing to help find this baby!!!

Thank you!!!

No sightings of Walker at all…tracking dog indicated an area Fri. where he had been but doubt he is staying there since in middle of huge field and I’m sure he’s looking for food…put up a bunch more posters yesterday and reposting everywhere…

2/18 POST
As of 2/17/15, Walker is still missing from Mint Hill. Foster parents Vickie and Ed know techniques to find missing dogs and which shelters to comb etc., but he has not been trapped or lured home yet, despite much labor and vigilance. Walker is a big, timid, totally non-aggressive, 4-year-old FOSTER dog who was only recently rescued and therefore probably feeling a lot of stress from all the changes. Please keep an eye out for him if you can.  Please contact Vickie per below if sighted.

Walker's mom got adopted to a great home a week before Walker ran off. A tracking dog got significant hits Wednesday night in the woods near the foster home so it seemed Walker did not go far. Update Saturday morning from Vickie 2/14/15:

We went out this a.m. to check the trap and walk around the area the tracking dog took us the other night. The trap is untouched, the food on the ground around it is still there….still no sightings at all. I have copied the AC’s that are nearby and he is chipped.

We are putting up large signs on bright poster board at all the main intersections around this area. He’s being shared all over FB and I’ve gotten several calls, emails, etc. from people asking if we have found him…

I have no idea if he would try to go back to where he lived...since his mommy left just a week before he went missing, he could be trying to find her. He would bark like crazy when I would take her for a walk or take her to work with me….
