GREENWOOD, SC
- "COURAGE" RESCUED OUT OF A HOME OF CHILD AND ANIMAL NEGLECT! - LAST OF THE GROUP LEFT AT THE SHELTER

His pull fee is sponsored, which will cover his HW test, all vaccines, deworm, neuter, microchip, and health cert if needed.  He also has an additional $100 in sponsorship toward his care.  I have an organization that will donate $300 toward heartworm treatment (the rescue must be 501c3, pending, or already be approved to the organization for them to sponsor the treatment).

As you can see in the article we had 5 dogs that were in need of rescue that were seized from this neglect case.  The children were put into family/foster care, and the animals of course came to us.  They had been signed over to the Greenwood County Animal Shelter, Greenwood SC, and from my understanding animal cruelty charges are being filed by the county they were located in.

These five dogs were living in disgusting conditions; they were fed, and are at a healthy weight, but not much else.  Out of the five we have one left, his name is Courage, and he was the guy not only living in the filth, but chained outside to his dog house for countless years the neighbors have said.  When he was found he had a nasty dog house with dried feces in it, dirty slimy water to drink from (that I am told he couldn't reach), and was on a chain.

Each dog was precious and pitiful, and at the same time they were friendly, no matter the circumstances they came from, which I have a feeling came from the love they received from these poor children that they lived with through this horrible life, I can only imagine the hell they all lived in.

Courage is 8 years old, a brindle, male Shepherd mix.  He is dog and people friendly, he got along with the small dogs that were also rescued.  When he got here he seemed hungry and thirsty.  He was a little scared the first day, didn't know what was going on, little did he know he had been taken out of the hell he had been chained in, I am hoping to show him a happy ending!  He is somewhat quiet, gets along well with others and is very loving.  Courage is amazing!!  When I spent time with him he nudged my hand for me to pet him and pawed at my leg for attention.  He's beautiful inside and out!

This sweet guy is 45 lbs, and is heartworm positive.  Courage has lived up to the name we gave him, he has been here for 2 weeks, survived a life on a chain in filth with no hope.  Still he holds his head up for a head rub, wags his tail when he sees us coming and seems so grateful for everything and every moment of attention we can give him.
