Bilbo will have until Tomorrow.  Please continue to post him out!

Time is getting short for Bilbo, but as I have thought about this, I am going to give him until Tuesday 10/27, so at least he will have until the actual rescue day to be pulled!

Has everyone cross-posted this to everyone you know?  Let's work on him this weekend!

For those who keep emailing about Jezzy, if you read her description you will see here date was moved to 10/30 because of her vetting.  Please read about the dogs!  I update news when it happens, so there may be something you have missed.

Jezzy is a sweetheart, and Bilbo is also a great dog that just needs some training and structure.  Even being with me for over a month his personality has greatly changed.

April Barker and BARC have each added $50 each sponsorship money for both as well.  So with Nancy willing to pay Bilbo's vetting and $100 each on top of everything else I cannot understand why someone cannot find a place for them?

Today is the last day for Bilbo if he is not claimed for rescue.  Please no "IF's" emails, if you can pull please do so.  This is too important to Bilbo so I need only a firm commitment.

BARC emailed me; they will sponsor Bilbo and Jezzy for an additional $50 each, which would be additional monies on to of Jezzy already being vetted and money set up for Bilbo to be neutered.  As I have stated earlier Nancy has sent me an email she will have Bilbo neutered and vetted.  So there will be no cost to a receiving rescue except for crate fees if they chose to pay that, however, I will only arrange for Bilbo's vetting if he is pulled to rescue him.

I appreciate her willing to do this but even with the vetting if I have to just bring him back here to be euthanized what is the benefit of that to any of us?

I agreed to do this with Jezzy because she is such a sweet and friendly dog I was sure someone would pull her right away if spayed and vetted, however, no one has committed to her as of yet.

Again if someone is willing to pull Bilbo for rescue, please let me know TODAY and I will call Dr. Collins and make his appointment.  If not, he will be euthanized as posted this Friday.

PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION ABOUT THE DOGS POSTED – SOME HAS BEEN UPDATED AND IS VITAL FOR RESCUES TO KNOW.

PLEASE PULL WHATEVER YOU CAN!  I am listing several dogs that have come in only this week but because I do not think they will be claimed I want to get them in the system.

It is really important that rescues consider all our animals as being euthanized at any time due to lack of space.  Even the smallest kittens are in danger if they are here more than 21 days.

Jezebel – Has now had all of her vaccinations and has been spayed due to a generous sponsor (thanks Nancy).  She would make a great pet!  Very friendly, no aggression towards people or other animals.

This very friendly female mix breed dog was picked up running lose in Lawrenceville on September 22.  She was dragging her lead that she had pulled loose from the ground.  She was/is in heat and is probably now pregnant since there was at least one male dog at the scene when I picked her up.  Was hoping owners would claim since she had to be owned due to the fact she had a lead but honestly I am glad they did not.  Hoping someone will rescue her quickly so she can be vetted.

Jezebel (Jezzy) - Young mixed breed female dog.  Possibly 2 year old?  Friendly, non-aggressive to me or other animals.  Very playful with other females but since in heat I am keeping her pretty well solo when let out.

Health – Female no background, possibly pregnant, but very early stage if she is.  She is very playful with the other females.  A really a very friendly dog, and very lovable.  Fully vetted.

Brought in date – 9/22/2015
Owner Claim date – 10/2/2015.

IMMEDIATELY!

Euthanization date 10/30/15.

Update on Bilbo – I have a new American Bulldog named Marshall.  He is intact and a large dog.  I allowed Bilbo out with the other dogs as normal since he has done very well playing and minding his P' and Q's and had Marshall's cage open.  Bilbo went into Marshall's cage twice, sniffed around, and then after taking a bite of his food walked out. He was curious but absolutely no aggression or even a growl.  I am hoping that now that Jezzy has been spayed, and her condition is pretty well over that has taken the edge off of him.  Of course I was am will continue to be on the closest guard if I do this again this afternoon but was glad he passed this test.

Bilbo – I think Bilbo would have to go to a home where he was lone dog.  He really is very playful, but always has to check out the new dogs with some suspicion.  If no one takes him or agrees to pull him so he can be neutered he will be euthanized on Friday night.  Although he is gentle and playful with me and seems to be well behaved he may be aggressive towards other males he does not know.

Heartworm tested negative.

Bilbo did not come into the shelter at a good time.  Jezzy had just been brought in and that put all the males into Alpha zone. I kept most of them apart so they would not fight.  Now that Jezzy is out of her period I have let him out and he does fine which is good since I can tell he is really a people dog! He runs and plays and is very friendly.  Just cautious because I can tell he is an Alpha dog. He is now past his owner claim so I will give him a chance to be rescued.  He is just another dog that just needs a chance.  I know he will be hard to pull but hoping someone will help him.

Bilbo is medium height dog, that is probably less than three years old.  He is intact, and probably weighs about 40-45 pounds.

Available to be rescue date - 10/7/2015.

Euthanization date 10/23/15.

If you are forwarding this to others please make sure your forwarded person gets this portion of the email.

1. If you are interested in rescuing any of the animals here, please use the REPLY ALL tab.   DO NOT CALL the shelter, email is preferred!  This will make sure those who need to see your reply do, especially me.  If you are wanting to pull a dog, and your email does not include me, it will be hard for me to know to prepare that animal for transport.

2. Because of some issues I had on my home computer I will have very limited access to emails after 5 pm and weekends, so please have your rescue requests initiated by 5:00 PM Friday, and finalized BEFORE 5:00 pm on Monday.

3. Also people who are pulling from me are not sending back the require confirmation they are receiving their animals. This is a must that I receive confirmation so I can add that to my paperwork in case the State wants to audit me. These confirmations can be in the form of an email or simply FAX the disclosure page with your signature.

4. Testing for any animal can be arranged but needs to be requested between Monday and Thursday of the week.  I will not be able to schedule anything after Thursday.

5. I will always hold if animals have a spot!  Also Dr. Adams can come on Wednesday's or Thursday's if I get notification that tests are required. Again if you are interested in an animal notify me so tests can be scheduled.  If you cannot pay, I will find a sponsor to help.

PLEASE READ THE SHELTER RESCUE POLICY AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS EMAIL BEFORE COMMITTING TO AN ANIMAL OR BEFORE ASKING ANY QUESTIONS.

IF YOU REPLY AND AGREE TO TAKE ANY OF THE ANIMALS LISTED YOU ARE AGREEING TO THE NEW POLICY LISTED BELOW.

WHEN REPLYING IF POSSIBLE USE REPLY ALL TO MAKE SURE TRANSPORT PERSONNEL GET THE MESSAGE!   IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE ESTABLISH A LINK BETWEEN ALL PARTIES INVOLVED.

Note:
I had the State Ag representative tell me I need to start asking for confirmation emails or have the disclosure form signed and Faxed back to me from all receiving rescued for my files.  Please once the animal is in your care send me a simple email or Fax confirming you have received your animal.  Fax number is: 1-618-707 2178.

Thank you for all who have emailed confirming receipt of animals and for those who have sent money.

Lawrence County Shelter Policy - ALL ANIMALS brought to or captured and brought into the shelter have a 7 to 10 day period to be claimed by owners. After that they will be placed up for adoption or rescue.

If a rescue is interested in any animal I need to be contacted as soon as possible so I can arrange transportation through our IAR group and if needed provide dogs with distemper/parvo 5 way vaccinations.  Puppies receive a 5-way on day they arrive but older dogs only on request. Also I am now asking rescues to consider reimbursing or paying for transport crate fees and 5-ways. The cost is $10 per crate, $4 per 5-way vaccination.  A letter for reimbursement will be included in the animals paperwork.

Animals that need additional services from a veterinarian will need to contact A LOCAL VETERINARIAN for the service needed; i.e. health certificates, heart worm or other tests, spay/neuter, vaccinations or any medical treatment.  I can only help with transportation after payment arrangements are made and an appointment is made by the receiving rescue.
