Houston TX: Urgent BARC 2-25 medical/behavioral DOGs and CATs and Length-of-Stay Lists

Honey, Tiny and Balto

Today 2-25 there are three extremely urgent DOG alerts for Tiny the Rhodesian Ridgeback mix and Honey the Lab mix who both only have til 2-27 and Balto the Husky mix, as well as the weekly-issued Length-of-Stay (LOS) lists for DOGs (40 dogs) and CATs (3 cats). For LOS pets, notify BARC by 9AM Mon 2-29 if you wish to ADOPT, FOSTER or RESCUE one or more. Please consider the previous days' alerts as well. Everybody at BARC is very urgent. Medical/behavioral impounds are available for FOSTER or RESCUE.

DOG alerts are at:
CAT alerts are at:

There is a box at top left of each blog to search by ID number, breed, or other key word such as name. Each alert has instructions for placing a hold, and there are icons at the bottom of each to click for sharing by email or social media. In viewing on a phone, the blogs are set for mobile viewing and one can click at the bottom where it says "View web version" to see the whole layout.

An abundance of adoptable pets is viewable on Petharbor as well as Petfinder (see Friends of Barc for quick link to Petfinder page). The shelter is the contact for FOSTER, RESCUE, or ADOPTIONS. They are very busy but rescue-friendly. Please contact them at with any questions.

[Note: My blogging of BARC's emails concerning Medical/Behavioral and Length-of-Stay DOGs and CATs will cease as of 2/27. There have been over 1,000 medical/behavioral alerts for DOGs and over 100 medical/behavioral alerts for CATs in the approximately four-month span I have been publishing them.  Ideally BARC staff could put their alerts online via their own blog or webpage. BARC's foster and rescue partners could subscribe to a blog and automatically receive alerts via email in their inboxes as soon as published. For future, there will be a few Houston links on a page here at my main blog (see tab above). Also, please see my post today regarding the new website for urgent pets being launched by Betsy Saul, Founder of Petfinder.]
