Kim, you may want to add this to his plea! The vet I work for has treated this dog, and has knowledge of his temperament and behavior! See her notes below when I forwarded his shelter email to her. If someone is interested they can talk to her directly I'm sure for moreinfo..."He's not vicious. We were able to treat him - no muzzle, no sedation. We neutered him and drew blood / urine - no prob."

Junior previously belonged to a homeless person who took good care of him. Unfortunately, Junior has exhibited aggressive behavior on several occasions and has been involved in two bites and several other incidences. Junior is now being declared vicious in the city he lives in. Since Junior can no longer live out on the public streets with his owner, we agreed to post him to see if any rescue group would be willing to take him in. The group that takes him will have to agree to keep him on whatever conditions are set up for their city regarding vicious animals as we will have to forward the information to their animal control.
If you want more information on Junior, please contact me by Thursday.

Still impounded! Volunteer Sherry poses with Samantha for the camera.

Lots of crossposting has been done for Samantha AND she has sponsorship for boarding. One would think she already has enough saviors but Valerie Markloff reports nobody comes to get her despite all the interest in her! An email Wednesday said redlisted Samantha was in ISO with an ear infection. Another email said she was on the TV news Thursday THE VERY NEXT DAY. Ear infections are extremely bothersome. Then it was said Friday she was put on the schedule to be killed. This is such a commendable dog for so many reasons!!! For a dog to be isolated in a shelter, to have an ear infection, and then go on TV and be pleasant is just one example. Look at her pictures and Sherry's report below. Please contact Sherry sherabrew04@aol.com What a dog! Many people have expressed interest in her but nobody has yet picked her up to save her and give her long life.

I actually went to the shelter after work today and spent some time with Samantha. She's gorgeous and very people friendly. She appears to be fine with her kennelmate who is much younger and much more active, but the staff marked Samantha's kennel card that she is food aggressive. Looking at Samantha's teeth, I guess her age to be around 8-years, but I let her off-leash in the shelter area and she seemed to enjoy prancing around. She was given a bath today and was silky soft. Here are some photos that were taken of Samantha, and with the two of us. When she would sit next to me, she liked to be touching with her paw. She did the same thing with the weatherman on the channel 7 news yesterday. You can probably see how beautiful she is in the photos, but they do not do her justice.

LosAngeles: Donations Needed to Save Beautiful Cat "Princess"

Cat Connection is a great local group in the San Fernando Valley, near Los Angeles! They are collecting money to save this beautiful cat Princess who is being treated by their vet.

-----Original Message-----
From: Cpaulinc@aol.com
Sent: Wed, 2 Jul 2008

Donations Needed to Save "Princess"!!

"Princess" is a beautiful, snowy white cat who was originally adopted from the shelter when she was a tiny kitten. Four years later she was dumped back into the same shelter by uncaring owners who were "moving." She was so scared, but very sweet and gentle and when one of the shelter volunteers opened her cage, she came forward and curled up into the crook of her arm.

I adopted Princess to a wonderful family who had adopted a cat from me before; they were looking for a "buddy" for their cat. After the usual adjustment period, the two cats became fast friends.

A few days later Princess became lethargic and depressed. Her adopter's Vet advised euthanasia before doing tests or giving a diagnosis. Luckily, her adopters called me. I told them to bring her immediately to my Vet where she was examined, x-rayed and had blood work. An ultrasound followed and it was confirmed that Princess has Feline Hepatic Lipidosis (Fatty Liver Disease.) Most of the time this is caused by a cat not eating for some amount of time, probably when she was at the shelter.

This is very serious, and Princess is critical. My Vet is optimistic that we can save her but we need funds to keep her treatment going. She is now on a feeding tube so she can receive nourishment, fluids and meds. Yesterday she had a blood transfusion. Her bill is close to $2000 and rising.

Princess survived the high kill shelter TWICE and is finally out, with a home to go to when she is well and a family who loves her. Please help us keep her alive.

If you can help (no amount is too small) Cat Connection (a 501c3 non profit org), is letting us use their web site for donations. All donations are tax deductible. You can donate by check, Paypal or American Express. Please go to: http://www.catconnectionla.org/
Click on "About Us" and scroll down to the
Donations button.

Checks can be sent to:
Cat Connection

Please designate that the donation is "For Princess."

Thank you so much for helping to save Princess.

Zeus and Flower, Shar Peis rescued from Downey, have been ADOPTED TOGETHER! HOORAY!

6/15 UPDATE: From: ocdogworks ocdogworks@cox.net

Date: Jun 15, 2008 7:07 AM

Subject: Zeus and Flower

Zeus & Flower (2 of the 3 downey pei from California) were successfully adopted yesterday!

Success story photo can be seen at http://www.peipeople.com/Success_Stories_.html!

Their new owners are experienced shar pei owners, and we are thrilled to have adopted them together!

Sue & Jody

Hi all:
Here is status regarding some Shar Peis who Jody, Sue, Denetta and the crew rescued from the Downey CA pound run by Los Angeles County. They are all great dogs saved from being put to death. Atlas (who was impounded at Downey) was quickly adopted through Shar Pei Rescue in Redding, California (Anna Payne), had his entropian surgery, is doing great, and his new parents even gave a contribution towards the expenses of the other two, which are ongoing.

Jody wrote:

Zeus is still on the Ivomec and will be for some time, but he is doing well, his hair is growing back and he is no longer all red and hot. He plays well with his foster sister and likes to bury bones that he steals from her! The vets want to skin scrape him every three weeks for progress updates, so that is a small expense, but still an expense, about $40 each time I'm guessing. He is all neutered now too, Denetta is sponsoring that, and his fosters are great about taking him in for all his vet visits.

Denetta wrote:

As of now Flower was just spayed and her rear dew claws removed..(they were doubles)...As far as donations...no we don't have near enough money to pay the medical bills, the dogs all had tape worms, Flower had a hernia...it just seems to go on. We are working on some fund raising ideas, but have not put anything certain together yet. We are thinking about doing a rescue quilt, and making a few items and selling them online. I will let you know more as soon as I get the information! Thanks you so much for your interest in these dogs. No adoptions on Flower or Zeus yet either.

She came into the Orange County Animal Care Center on 5/26 with a severely injured front right leg. She has missing toes and has a full arm cast.. She needs to have the leg amputated. Yesterday I took her to our vet at Pearson-Nespor in San Marcos. She started her deworming, Felv testing, and shots. They took X-rays also. Today, 6/3 I am taking her to Dr. Katcherian at Back Bay Vet in Newport Beach. He is going to examine her and he said he will try and save the leg. He will be the one conducting the surgery. It could be as much as $1000. She will have to stay there for several days. i am planning on doing the rehab with her to cut costs. Thankfully school lets out soon to give me the extra time. So far, all of her bills have come out of my pocket. I would really appreciate it if anyone could help me out with getting some funds. I have set up an account on fundable.com. Juliet and her buddy, Romeo, were found by a good hearted person, and were brought to the shelter. But they weren't your average stray pit bulls. No, these poor dogs were dumped, along with all of their things, beds, etc. in a field. (who does this kind of stuff??!!) Rather than leave them to starve or get hit by a car, she brought them to the shelter. So far, their story is a tragedy...first loved, and then dumped like so much trash in a field. But this Romeo and Juliet can have a happy ending-it's up to you. Juliet's eye has been surgically sutured (healed long ago) and she gets around just fine. She likes making friends, and will come over and sit in visitors' laps (if I scoot over slowly, they won't even know I'm in their lap!) We would love to adopt Romeo and Juliet together, but they can be seperated if it is necessary. If you would like more information about Juliet, please have her ID number available, and contact the shelter.

She is fine with kids (I don't have any but we go visit the neighbor kids on walks) and the mailman/strangers - LOVES people and seeks out attention. Renday is approximately 2 years old and a real lovebug. She was abandoned pregnant in a Target parking lot. She was named Renday by the City of Rancho Cucamonga Animal Control where she was taken and had puppies 2 days later; she was fostered through the shelter while she nursed her puppies. Those puppies were adopted. Renday was going to be put to death. She was rescued by www.PeiPeople.com. Please see her info by clicking here: 1-800-save-a-pet

Primarily because of a mysterious skin infection that materialized after the puppies were born, the rescue organization has spent over $1,886+ on her medical expenses so far. Sue fostered Renday in her home for 12 days, through her surgery recovery. She is now in boarding. The organization has spent $480 on her boarding at $10/day. PeiPeople has had Renday for 60 days, 48 of which have been in boarding in Orange County, California. They have over $1,000 into treating the mysterious infection on her back. Despite 3 biopsies and surgery, the infection rages on. PeiPeople.com is taking her to a specialist (doggie dermatologist) this weekend. PeiPeople.com respectfully requests your donations for her medical/boarding expenses if you are able to assist. Thank you for considering Renday!

Any donations, even small ones, are still very much appreciated because they all add up. PeiPeople has applied for 501(c)3 status; donations are presently non tax-deductible.To make a contribution, please click on the Donate button on website www.PeiPeople.com or PayPal directly to info@peipeople.com (peipeople.com). Subject: 6/3 DEADLINE DEAF DOG at Pasadena Humane Society A226949

A226949 "Ruby" 11 month old spayed boxer/pittie mix

Sweet Ruby was brought back twice because she's deaf. She was originally adopted out in February, returned a few days later because she's deaf, adopted again in March, and here she is back again. The second family adopted her knowing she was deaf, they said "Dog is nice dog but has an aggressive playful manner. Best w/ house w/ no young kids. Dog is deaf so training is difficult". Their "young kid" is 13 yrs old. They kept her outside day and night, maybe she wouldn't be so "playfully aggressive" if she had more interaction with her family. They have a cat and said that the dog liked the cat. She's being reviewed on 6/3, please send to anyone you know who works with deaf dogs. Thank you!

Resending this plea with updated photos of Miss Ruby Duby. She is a tiny girl (maybe 30-35 lbs) with spunk just needing some guidance and training. I got to spend some time with her yesterday and fell in love with Ruby. If you know of anybody out there with a big enough heart to take this adorable deaf girl in, please have them contact the Pasadena Humane Society (contact info below) immedia
