Subject: meet bo
hi, this is bo. bo is a female german shepherd mix. she is about a year old, 50 pounds, and 2 feet tall. bo was wandering the streets of south LA for a long time before i rescued her. she was very friendly and i could approach and pet her. the problem was that it was obvious that she was nursing pups so i couldn't take her but a friend and i fed her everytime we saw her. after over 8 weeks on the street i found out that her puppies were weaned and given away. so i finally took her. unfortunately, she had a bad infection in her body that required a 2 week stay with the vet. now she's healthy and ready for a caring home. bo is sweet, affectionate and gets along with all dogs, children, and cats. she is spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, fecal test done, frontlined, and microchipped. anything you can do to find this sweetie a home would greatly be appreciated. rescued dogs rule, terrell 323-385-8993

If someone is interested they can talk to her directly I'm sure for moreinfo..."He's not vicious. We were able to treat him - no muzzle, no sedation. We neutered him and drew blood / urine - no prob."

Junior previously belonged to a homeless person who took good care of him. Unfortunately, Junior has exhibited aggressive behavior on several occasions and has been involved in two bites and several other incidences. Junior is now being declared vicious in the city he lives in. Since Junior can no longer live out on the public streets with his owner, we agreed to post him to see if any rescue group would be willing to take him in. The group that takes him will have to agree to keep him on whatever conditions are set up for their city regarding vicious animals as we will have to forward the information to their animal control.
If you want more information on Junior, please contact me by Thursday.

Thank you to everyone who is assisting! Many animals are leaving the shelter and heading to great homes and great rescues due to your assistance and diligent work! I really appreciate your help! If you can help any of these animals on this list, please contact me by email (raindoggies@live.com) by TUESDAY JULY 15th. Website for additional photos is: http://www.darlingtonhumane.com/. If your rescue can cover the costs of the heartworm/feleuk test and vaccines ($30 - includes rabies for those old enough) that would be much appreciated. Please also visit the websites below who are offering a truly fantastic service by posting animals and updates for us regularly. Photos will be easier to see on these sites:
http://www.dittydatsanddogrescue.com/darlington_urgents.html
http://www.noahs-arks.net/RESCUE/Darlington.html

Torti is a very friendly and loving cat. She was an owner turn-in because she suddenly stopped using her litterbox and started using the bathroom mat instead! She may have been upset about a change in the home or have been experiencing a urinary tract infection. She gets along great with the other cats and always comes running to get her head scratched and her back petted. She also likes to purr rather loudly! ** She is using the litter box at the shelter!*****Will be tested for feline luekemia once a rescue steps forward and indicates an interest**

Grayie is the white and gray cat in the left of the photo. This cat is strikingly tall and is very curious. He likes to come and check you out when you enter the cat habitat. He has beautiful white with gray soft fur. ***Will be tested for feline luekemia once a rescue steps forward and indicates an interest**

Kittie is playful and loving and likes to reach right out to make contact! This little cat knows no strangers - he/she quickly demands affection and petting. ***Will be tested for feline luekemia once a rescue steps forward and indicates an interest**

Kittens Kittens Kittens!!!! - There are so many kittens at the shelter that are gorgeous and need placement! Unfortunately less than 5 are usually adopted out per week, leaving the majority to be put to sleep. There is a noticeable drop off in kitten and puppy adoptions this year - perhaps due to the economy?? If you are a great cat rescue and can help us out with the influx of kittens we would love to talk with you!

Rabbit is a handsome gray tabby with beautiful matching eyes. He is enjoying the outdoor cat habitats and his 3-D prowess they allow him to exhibit! He is loving and friendly- NEEDS RESCUE ASAP!!!!

Chester is the friendliest of cats! You will not enter the outdoor cat habitat and escape a good head rubbing from Chester. He loves to rub and talk - will be a fantastic family member!!

Katie is a small shepherd mix girl - around 35-40 pounds - perfect for an indoor/outdoor dog! She intently gazes at everyone that enters the kennels - perhaps searching for her new family? She appears to be 1-2 years old and is gentle and laid back

Katie 3 -Katie 3 is a small (under 40 pounds) shepherd mix girl. She has gorgeous reflective eyes - she came in by animal control with a collar on, but no ID. And no matter how hard she looks towards the shelter gates, she hasn't made her owners appear to spring her.

Ace is a white bulldog mix. He is friendly and wants to be petted and love. Ace is apparently deaf, however. He only responds to vibrations.
URGENT!Patch is a happy girl with a big grin on her face. She was brought into the shelter by Animal Control, yet she managed to give the officer a big lick anyway as she was being unloaded from the truck! She gets along very well with other dogs and is very playful and happy. Patch has been spared for 2 euthanasia days, but surely her luck will not continue to hold - her silly grin and waggin tail are real charmers. She has gotten along great with every other dog that has been put in her run. A GREAT GIRL!!!!
URGENTChelsea - A gorgeous medium sized lab mix - she has a bobbed tail and a curly coat! She was terrified initially, but has really blossomed in the last few days. She is loving and eager to please!

Sparkie - Shepherd mix dog that was surrendered by the owner-we're not sure of the reason - apparently did not have a real reason! Sparkie was dumped at the shelter along with Lovie - a yellow lab mix litter mate of hers. The have been around this one family their entire lives - are very friendly dogs! They know no strangers - each is welcomed equally with wags and kisses!

Walker - Female Walker Hound mix - She is calm (but now we haven't seen her in action with a deer in the woods!) and very interested in pats and in food. She came into the shelter very thin and very tired. Very sweet girl.

Brianna was brought to the shelter by Animal Control. She is shy, but there's a look in her eyes that says, "Just give me a little more time & lots of love." Brianna was brought to the shelter with a Black Lab mix named Charmer.

Charmer is a Black Lab mix. He was brought to the shelter by animal control. He's a little shy now (shelter shock), but with love & care will blossom. Charmer was brought to the shelter along with a Yellow Lab mix named Brianna. Charmer has the most unusual eyes - they are yellow in color and give him the look of being all strung out on caffeine (or worse!). He is not hyper, however...

Buster is all energy! He loves to play rough with other dogs and some people too! He is all ears. He has a dominant dog attitude with big ambitions for a small pup. Buster is being treated for sarcoptic mange - he may have lost some of his shiny black fur, but it definately has not affected his happy attitude!

Max is 5-6 months old. His owner was moving, and for some odd reason, Max could not go. Max was brought to the shelter in the trunk of his owners car - we are thinking that perhaps his owner did not understand that Max could actually have made the move, as long as he was permitted to ride in the INSIDE of the car. We decided to let that lie, however, other than to tell the owner to never ever put an animal in the trunk of the car again...... Max does not seem too upset to be with us - perhaps he can continue to climb the ladder of hope with your rescue help?

Holly was brought in by Animal Control, and listed as a stray found in a yard. Although she's frightened in her new environment, she will shyly approach and wait for a touch.

Newton -His name says it all - he is a very unique colored lab mix (not really chocolate lab, but a reddish chocolate) and so full of life and happiness. He has a great outlook on life - esp. considering his present digs! Newton is a very good boy! He was brought in by AC.

-Chip and his brother Dale, were given up to the shelter because they had grown too large. They are 8 months old and love each other dearly. And just like the chipmunks, Chip and Dale, these 2 brothers have short bobbed tails that wiggle and wag with excitement. These boys are looking for a new family, one that can make a lifelong commitment to them. They are both easy going and will make great family additions. They are also incredibly intelligent and stick together through thick and thin! They temporarily outsmarted the staff, by learning how to flip open the kennel latch and let themselves out. They then would RACE around the edge of the kennels, showing off for all the other dogs. The last photo shows them in action! However, once the fun is over and the staff reprimands them with a "Go back to your kennel!" , they actually return to their kennels and stand there waiting for you to re-latch the kennel door. SMART DOGGIES! And they enjoy each other and good tricks!

Lady was surrendered by an elderly owner who could not longer care for her. Her 3 puppies (the 3 Sisters) were also surrendered. They appear to be Chow/Shepherd mix.

Bell is a beautiful brindle colored Hound mix - sweet, happy and loving as well. Please consider adopting Bell as not many hounds are adopted from our shelter.

Clementine - This one always has a song in her heart and a wag to her tail - see it in action in the photo? She is not overly rough or rambunctious - evidently had some manners instilled in her by dear old Mom. She is a gorgeous girl --
URGENT!One Way is a gorgeous 6 month old shepherd pup. He came into the shelter on the end of a choke pole by AC and was exceedingly frightened and not too friendly. One of the staff took a special interest in him and has worked with him to bring him around and teach him that people are not all bad. He has a dominant personality type - he will require someone who understands dog behavior and can spend the time training him properly. He will only be adopted to folks who understand this breed and this personality type. One Way is exceedingly intelligent and trusts the staff he knows completely now. He appears non friendly to people he does not know. PARTIAL SPONSOR RECEIVED _ THANK YOU!!!

Lollie is a Terrier mix. He was surrendered, along with his brother Murphy, by their owners. The owners told us that their father was a Jack Russell. Both Lollie and Murphy are very sweet. They are exceedingly frightened of the shelter environment and long for a forever home. They are very attached to one another - we would prefer to send them to rescue together! They are 10-15 pounds in size.

I actually went to the shelter after work today and spent some time with Samantha. She's gorgeous and very people friendly. She appears to be fine with her kennelmate who is much younger and much more active, but the staff marked Samantha's kennel card that she is food aggressive. Looking at Samantha's teeth, I guess her age to be around 8-years, but I let her off-leash in the shelter area and she seemed to enjoy prancing around. She was given a bath today and was silky soft. Here are some photos that were taken of Samantha, and with the two of us. When she would sit next to me, she liked to be touching with her paw. She did the same thing with the weatherman on the channel 7 news yesterday. You can probably see how beautiful she is in the photos, but they do not do her justice.

Subject: available doggies at Mansfield Animal Care and Control
Good Afternoon, We have available several very, very nice small doggies as well as some medium and two large doggies. All are desperate to leave the shelter. All are on petfinder.com under zip 76063. If interested in any of these doggies please call us asap. Thank you.
Amy Lou: Pit and Pointer, has been vetted, on hw meds but is hw positive. About a year old. Has ALL shots, just weaned a lab litter and they all have been adopted. Very social. Has been evaluated by myself as well as a professional trainer and she is so receptive to training and her attitude is such that she could be a Therapy Dog. Needs out ASAP.
Allen: MinPin or mix. Black and tan. Male. Young adult. Not neutered. Walks on the leash. Active like a minpin but has naturally standing ears and a full tail. Was dumped with four others in a crate on the shelter doorstep.
Montie: Terrier mix of some sort. Came in with Allen. Small doggie also. Red. Very active. Probably has Minpin in him. No neutered. Young adult.
Cary: Cardigan Corgi mix, to small for a purebred. Adult, not altered. Very social. Walks well on the leash. Was a stray. Very cute doggie.
Irish Eyes: Female Aussie mix, young, red merle, found at Lok Mor. Walks on the leash. Beautiful eyes. Pretty coat. Nice, medium small doggie.
Shep: Adult male, black, Aussie mix. Keeps a clean kennel. Nice doggie. Walks well on the leash.
Sparky: Tweenie Doxie. Does not get along with small animals. Owner surrendered for that reason. Only about a year old. Nice black and tan.
Mable: Collie and Husky mix. Big girl. May be spayed as she is chubby. Nice gal. Loves people. Shows well.
Curlie: Medium small, male, young adult black spaniel mix. Nice boy. But has been here for awhile and needs a home that he can play and be a good part of the family. You would like him.
Pity Pete: A neutered, cropped pit. Named Pity Pete because he always wants to be the woe is me doggie. He misses his family. Said to be a stray but probably not.
Plus I have others but gotta go and show some doggies. Please call or come on down and check these out. Marilyn, Mansfield Animal Care and Control 817-477-2038
