Subject: Senior Chihuahua mix in shelter for 1 year needs a home

My name is Roxana Farahani and I am a volunteer at San Gabriel Valley Humane Society (SGVHS) located in the greater Los Angeles area. I just want to first state that I truly appreciate all the work you are doing!

We have a senior dog at our shelter who keeps getting passed up by adopters.  He is small, healthy and likes other small dogs.  He has been in the shelter for 1 year without any adoption interest, despite our community having a history of adopting small dogs.  Staff and volunteers have noticed he is becoming depressed in the kennel and losing weight.  We are hoping a rescue can save him and give him a more comfortable and loving home until he can find his forever family.

Please consider helping Scooter!  Below I have attached a rescue form detailing some more information about him, as well as some pictures and videos via google drive links.  If for any reason you cannot open these, please let me know and I will gladly resend a different way!

Thank you for your time and consideration and I welcome any comments or suggestions.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Rescue Profile --- Scooter

Name: Scooter   -----  Available for Rescue and Adoption

Age: 10 yr

Breed mix: Chihuahua Mix

Time at the shelter: 1 year

Weight: 7 lbs

Neutered: Yes

Up to date on shots: Yes

Micro chipped: Yes

Urgency: Scooter has been at the shelter for nearly 1 year and keeps being overlooked by potential adopters. Sadly, shelter staff and volunteers have noticed that this once always smiling guy, is becoming more sad and subdued each day in his kennel. He is also losing weight. Although, our community predominantly adopts small dogs there is no interest in sweet Scooter and he is constantly being passed up by adopters. We would like to find a rescue that can give him a temporary, comfortable home and find Scooter a forever family he deserves.

Scooter is adored by both small and big dog volunteers, he has a big personality trapped in an adorable, tiny body.

Good with other dogs: Scooter plays regularly and nicely with other small dogs, he enjoys playground time and especially likes ladies. Scooter sometimes can be a little grumpy with dogs that get pushy with him. He does not like big dogs.

Cats: Unknown (shelter doesn't test dogs with cats)

Kids? New people?: Friendly when meeting people?: We think he would be good with kids; he has met and likes different kinds of people.

What is the energy level? High to low?: Low to Medium.

What issues does the dog need to work on such as excessive barking, toy/food aggression and other?:

Is the dog housebroken, crate or leash trained?  Unknown

Knows basic commands?: Yes.

Other comments: As with many older dogs, he has had some dental issues and was seen by the off-site dentist.  He is only given wet food now due to his tooth issues.
